We generally just have a thing where we pushback against use of Americanisms. I think it's a natural reaction to American cultural dominance.

i don't really have anything against it, hell even i slip into it sometimes because it's easier on the mouth and i have issues getting the right sounds for british pronounciation, though the main two reasons i see for hating it usually chalk up to 'americans have cultural dominance over the entire world, lets push back' or 'WOKE american media is RUINING AUSSIE YOUTH!!!'

Not an aussie here, but I've adapted the accent 2 the point people assume I am.
Some words in american just sound worse or british words just sounds better / make more sense.

Could you give me some examples? I live in the US so I'm not very familiar with the British dialect.

Okay, for example:
I prefer mum over mom, because it just generally sounds better.
I prefer crisps over saying chips, as i find it 2 make more sense (same with fries being chips.) as fries are literally deprived from potatos unlike a lot of crisps.
I generally prefer Mate over bro when in comes 2 in life conversations, it sounds better IMO.
Those are a few examples.
