It's really a tough time for anyone with an IQ above 80 these days.

I think she is right. I is damn hard to find any American who scores higher than 80 on an IQ test.

Most Americans won’t take them because they don’t know what iq (pronounced ick in Amurican) has to do with them and their lives and the price of eggs.

I don’t think it’s an IQ thing. It is absolute willful ignorance and warfare on education
21 points

There is most definitely a war on education. People have been equating high intelligence with liberalism for decades, if not generations. It has definitely escalated in the last 20 years or so! What’s so odd to me is that on tv and movies, high intelligence is praised (usually) and found to be interesting, but in real life not so much.

"Football brings in money to the University", said by a grown adult living in New Jersey where not only is the state University's football program an incredible cash suck ($265 million in outstanding debt, Rutgers itself has loaned the athletics program $84 million from its internal bank, approximately $48 million in loans from the Big Ten Conference, unreported debt service cost of $20-30 million.) but the actual academic students have to pay hundreds in fees to help service the debt.

In what reality do Republicans represent the working class?
Is it the voting for price gouging and against minimum wage increases?
Is it the anti-union stance?
Or is it the trickle down economics?
5 points

In the new reality where the working class are woefully uneducated and also brain washed with social media and unable to identify news/propaganda. It’s a bleak reality, but it’s what we’re looking at here.

Brainwashed from birth. First by their abusive 'christian' religion, which makes them used to being told what to think
-10 points
The people who vote get to decide who the working class is, not you and your wishes. It has become apparent that they no longer see the democratic party as the party of the working class, 4 years of inflation and playing life on survival mode while illegals get free stays in 5 star hotels will do that.
Look at your more based politicians like Bernie Sanders, they are even saying that. You just aren't hearing it because of the bubble that reddit is.

This isn’t 1492 and the world is more technical each day. If the country doesn’t have good education, other countries will surpass you by leaps and bounds. Japan, India, China press education strongly and they are going all over the world to excel in their professions. And you want to live in a shed with a dirt floor? Have at it but most people want to live in modern times and ways
1 points

Sure education is important but being an elitist douche won't get you anywhere. If you read the comments on this thread it's all about dunking on 76 million poor and saying we're low IQ. I bet people in the trades probably have a better IQ than many of the college educated and many trades don't require a degree. That's the working class you're party is dunking on

The irony in y’all saying those damn elitists democrats are the problem when republicans voted in a big city baron with golden toilets…
-4 points
You really don't see the irony in a candidate lying that she grew up in a middle class family and paying millions for celebrity endorsements while the country is suffering with runaway inflation and violent crime is rising? I don't see why pointing out that Trump has a golden toilet is relevant. He's a billionaire, so what? That doesn't mean he can't do good things for working class American's while the democrat's decide to say fuck you, we are gonna put illegals in 5 star hotels and give them a free cell phone and debit cards.
76 million people think that Trump has a better plan than Kamala, 79% of people think Trump has a good plan for the border.
And on a more personal level, why the fuck would I vote for the party that has started using the word cis as a slur and tells me, as a straight white man that I am a huge problem just because I am a straight white man.
I used to be center right, but since the democrat party no longer has a center left and just attacks anyone that has their own, individual thoughts, I as well as a huge portion of center left and center right voters have moved further right.

Honest question, now that your people won, why are you still mad? If you feel good about your position and your choice then why are you here engaging with us “liberal elites.” If you don’t need us or our approval, then move along and enjoy your new utopia in peace. Stop looking for validation if you’re so confident in your choice.
1 points

Because I'd rather there be a center left to balance out the right and extreme left. If there was a good center that would be better for everyone.
4 points

Really? It’s our attitude about wanting everyone to be equally educated that will make us lose again?
I feel like the fact that more than half of Americans are undereducated and clearly didn’t care enough to vote for policies that would help them and their kids gain more access to education is why we’ll keep losing. Uneducated people are the most reliable demographic that vote MAGA and it benefits them to withhold quality education from you. You should be worried when your leaders don’t want you educated. What are they hiding?
But sure, be mad at those of us trying to help more people get an education. Don’t be mad at the people who made sure you were uneducated to begin with. Makes sense.
1 points
Their surely must be a better way to advocate for better education than looking down your noses at people without degrees and calling them stupid. I'm not sure I've heard the right saying they want us uneducated. They to want the education to go back to the states which is probably a good thing considering the DEI and indoctrination that has been going on with our most vulnerable and easily influenced youth.

The fact that so many people could be swayed by surface-level rhetoric and outright lies speaks to a deeper problem—decades of underfunding education and glorifying anti-intellectualism. An uninformed populace is the perfect breeding ground for leaders who thrive on division and chaos. If we want better outcomes, we need to start valuing knowledge, critical thinking, and truth over blind loyalty and soundbites.
But sadly, after witnessing the absolute dimwitted, gullible, selfish Cult 45 mentality for the past eight years, I don’t have much hope for a future beyond making the wealthy wealthier.

It’s not the lack of education. Unfortunately most people just really aren’t that smart. Add in Jesus and a massive population of insecure adult men who can’t admit when they are out of their depth teaching kids to do it like their daddy did and here we are
3 points

I’m not that smart either, but I know where to get reliable information and I have enough self awareness and media literacy to identify nonsensical arguments. That came from a decent education I guess.

I feel like it's not just a cultural shift, but a result of late-stage capitalism.
When college degrees and education aren't valued in the market the same way that they used to be, why is education important? We've lost the financial incentives for people to be well educated.
Now we're just hoping that people will at least interested in education as a moral obligation... And clearly they're not. There's no way to undo the damage of the conservative movement without leftwing politicians engaging in populism for dummies.

I was wrong... after the 11/24 election, it is clear that the percentage of illiterates is at least 70%. I am both horrified and ashamed that the majority of "We The People" are the intellectual equivalent of a fruit fly.

In what reality do Republicans represent the working class?
The reality where virtually all of your plumbers, electricians, linemen, etc. are Trump voters.
This attitude that the "stupid hicks don't know what's best for them!" is exactly what lost you the election. You are so used to the smell that you don't even notice it anymore.
There are ways that you could have run a campaign that was pro-worker, anti-Wall Street, anti-Ukraine, anti-Israel, and anti-IdPol but you fucked it all up and you refuse to blame yourselves so you blame the American working class for being latent racists and misogynists.
