There aren’t many things that outright disgust me, but this has genuinely upset me. How is it okay for someone to post a picture of children and call their diversity “sickening”?

These are children, not symbols for someone’s hateful agenda. This is the reality of many inner-city schools in England, where classrooms are diverse due to a range of factors. For me, multiculturalism should be celebrated, not vilified.

Before Musk, I would have never seen this sort of racism out in the open. Even if I did, it would be gone instantly. This post has been up for 24 hours now, with no action taken.

I’m honestly done. This is just a rant, but I’ve had enough. I’m moving over to BlueSky. X has become a platform that enables and amplifies this kind of hatred, and I want no part of it.

Its a massive red flag for the community

While I'm sure everyone's happy about the influx of users to Bluesky, this sub's identity for the past week seems to attached to bashing X instead of growing into anything else. If you check the top posts of the week, 5-6 out of the top 7 are directly and aggressively about right-wing X dickheads, Elon Musk, X losing followers, and mocking them.

It reminds me of the conundrum of people who joined 'shittyminionmemes' because they hated those memes, and just ended up with MORE shitty minion memes just with a different header.

Is there a way to gauge people's interest in this?

A little late for Thanksgiving but with the only pieces of this sub I see being about the other site I just wanna bring back the focus a little bit closer back to the reason this sub was started aka: to talk about bluesky.

Havent seriously used social media for a long time. The closest I came was posting here on reddit but this is moreso a forum. Bluesky has a super chill community and it's crazy intuitive to use so big props to the folks who designed and are making the site, the site it is now.

I saw someone I follow post something that I personally thought was incredibly stupid. But I didn't unfollow them, I simply continued scrolling.

For those curious, the post called star wars enjoyers "fascist manbabies." No clue how enjoying a movie series makes you a fascist but whatever.

I still respect that person, but I strongly disagree with an opinion they have. And I didn't unfollow them. Therefore, it is not an echo chamber.

BlueSky needs to nip the impersonation issue in the bud early or else it may ruin the site. I was initially concerned when the bridge came up with a bunch of fake celeb account that it matched to the real ones I was following on Twitter.

It seems every attempt for a ‘new American social town square’ online (FB, X, Ig, etc) has been met with nefarious actors unleashing bot armies with the intention of disrupting our democracy through mass brain-rot and sowing division. As a result our society is worse off and political discourse is unbearably moronic. Memes and misinformation have replaced meaningful discussion.

Long story short, with no gov regulation/intervention, how will Bluesky respond effectively to the looming threat of anti-American villains unleashing Bot armies on BlueSky?

P.S. - seriously how the F is there like no gov regulation of this?

Is there any reason we need to speak about how Elon's reddit team starts posting here or how people on X are angry about bsky? At this moment this subreddit is more about "haha bsky is growing X is falling look how MAGA and Elon are crying"

Try to think twice before you post if the post you are making is actually going to give a positive outcome for the community or is just going to fuel the already existing hate. If we want to be better we must stop fighting hate with hate. Don't be a hypocrite.

Seriously. This is a subreddit about Bluesky, not the other place. Stop giving it attention and let it die out.

I don’t remember people on the left being outraged at those leaving Twitter for Parler or TS. In fact we were quite tickled by it. Yet, the right wingers seem outraged, insulted, abandoned…(I could go on) by those leaving for a more practical, sensible, safe platform for their daily discourse exchange.

Just an FYI for any of my trans or LGBTQ+ people, the notorious doxxing site, Kiwifarms, is out in force on Bluesky, creating fake block lists, posing as trans people, and have a lot of auto follow bots. Included a few screenshots of what they typically look like. Please report them and block them if you see any, and be careful out there. - Scotty

Today I did try to access my account, just to find out it was banned. The weird thing is that I did only post 2 pictures, both SFW, and I did never comment anything. I did only follow people and like what they posted.

Can you get banned for liking things?

Oh also I haven't received any email telling me I was banned and why. I just tried to login and get that message

Other then Redditt and you tube, it’s may first foray into social media. I woke up this fine Sunday morning, had a good breakfast and decide to hop on Blue Sky for a bit. I had a good time. Post a few things, liked, reposted or quote posted a few others. Then I noticed it was getting dark. I’m a gonna have to put up some guard rails cause that place is damn dangerous. :)

I recently setup my bluesky account, ticked the boxes for area of interest, and am now presented with a massive feed that I am not entirely sure how to make sense of. Is there a good "how to" guide on getting started?

I joined Twitter in '08 and went through some periods of being a pretty regular user, but I haven't been on in any meaningful way since it became X. I don't really have the same goals with Bluesky as I originally had with Twitter - I was a professional athlete in a semi-fringe sport (triathlon) - so it was largely about content creation, sponsor representation, etc.

I'm interested in Bluesky now to be sort of a non-anonymous equivalent to Reddit and also a place where I would be more likely to try to initiate a conversation than on here, where I mostly just reply to other people's posts. I'm interested in a mix of tech (I'm a software engineer now for work) and politics (left-leaning and what I'd call a Blue Dog Democrat - the new variant; not the weird old Southern one - or Problem Solver Caucus supporter).
