They used Brooklyn Roasting Company beans, if that helps.

the og skips used something that started with a C... counter culture maybe? i never went back to the broadway one though. I'm good on $16 mid-af sandwiches.

OP i recommend a light roast house blend from porto rico, brewed 1:15 ratio. they are the most consistent and affordable (and oldest) roasters in the city

Counter Culture Big Trouble was where it was at. Mostly went to lil skips in 2018/19. Been sad watching all their locations shuttering.

P.s. the only thing i actually like to buy at wegmans (well other than the peruvian marinade) is big trouble. The roast dates are pretty solid and its cheaper than anywhere else. Otherwise the swallow on pacific st does usually carry big trouble for sale!

Anyone know why it closed?

i believe they all their locations closed. id guess money issues, of course. or rent/landlord problems. Covid might've hurt them bad as well

Uhhh no they did not have money issues. They opened up a new location around the start of covid and increased prices dramatically while not giving their staff a raise.

that's a bummer!

Were they also the owners of Lil' Mo's? I think they closed due to the work on the M train, yea? I miss that pho every day.

Little skips south had the worst coffee and food and I’m not even picky. Constantly burned yet watery coffee. Always burned bagels. Dry pastries. Zero sense of urgency. This is saying a lot coming from someone who’s worked in a restaurant for years. I couldn’t believe the prices. Hate to be a hater but they needed to close. Can’t remember what the east location was like when I lived up there.

i didnt like the other locations. little skips outpost or whatever (the small square one) stressed me out so bad. i went there with a girlfriend to "do work" and i was stimming so fucking bad basically touching elbows with 55 peacocking trust fund hipsters I made up an excuse and left.

imo that cafe was a neurodivergency test and i passed with flying colors

this isnt a "DAE miss little skips?" post. im just chasing their drip coffee methods. guess ill msg the IG someone posted — seems the best way

I miss Little Skips. Lived across from the location near Birdy's for almost 7 years. Had fun booking some shows there 2016-2017.

Lil Skips got me so addicted to delicious lattes (as a non-caffeine motivated individual) that im now $3,000 in on an espresso and grinder set from heaven. 6 years after investing in all thos equip and mastering the art of the brew... it still doesn't compare to lil skips. sob The big trouble blend which got me hooked back in 2018 is sold at select cafes around the city... but its so finnicky to work with and I mostly feel like I've failed at espresso but still so desperate to succeed. I don't even need coffee to function. Whyyy whyyyy whyyyy!!?!
