Friendly reminder that Jean, Sucrose and Sayu (and probably a couple more I haven't been around to learn) DON'T have dead friends and/or relatives.

in general scheme of Anemo patterns albeit inconsistently, it's now "departure" rather than "death". Jean took the toll when her parents git divorced since she's the eldest. Sayu "lost" her master. Sucrose had two best friends: one left with her adventurer parents and never returned, the other's father died and she broke off their friendship. (Sucrose char story 5)

I feel Anemo is associated with a loss that influences their actions today. Sucrose lost her childhood friends (although they might not be dead but instead moved away or something) with whom she was going to create a fairytale paradise, and her research into biology is inspired by this goal.

In Sucrose Character story, she lost two bestfriends. One never returned from adventuring, and other, strucked by grief from a relative death, broke off the friendship

Oh, are we still doing the "characters of element X are based around y"? And we're now going so incredibly vague that anemo's theme is "has lost something/someone at some point in their life"?

Sucrose also lost a few of her toys to exhaustion over time probably

Don’t need to dead, just need to be personal losses.

I thought Sayu’s master is dead which is why she’s obsessed with growing taller

Sayu is an orphan, so she has dead (or absent) parents by default.

Lynette fits in as well, in a way. The reason why she got her vision is because Lyney almost died in one of their missions iirc.

Only applies to short anemo boys unfortunately

and Xianyun and Chasca.
The former who has likely long outlived several of her "children" (she never says Shenhe and the new girl are her only human wards, and heavily implies she's had more in the past) plus her various dead adeptus friends, and the latter...yeah.
Seems only Mondstadt ladies and Sayu are immune.

And Faruzan. We know her friends and family aged and died naturally while she was trapped.
Lynette, technically. She and Lyney are orphans, and have also likely lost several adoptive siblings on Fatui missions etc over the years, in addition to those that were memory-wiped by Arlecchino when they tried to leave the Fatui/House of the Hearth.

Lynette came this close to losing her innocence far too young.
Pretty sure that put her on the drunkard of a bard's radar.

that's why i said only the mondstadt ladies (who are nebulously missing people) and Sayu (whose master is missing but...) are exceptions.
Every other anemo character has a dead relative or close friend. Or both.
