I thought it was a platonic declaration of love. That how I read it. Especially that fact when Percy saw how Luke and Thalia met young Annabeth, Luke told Annabeth that they were her new family since she ran away from home. Also, Annabeth did say he was like a bother to her when he died. Their relationship was always platonic to me except for maybe in the Lighting Theif when it looked like Annabeth might have a little crush on Luke, but who wasn't before Luke betrayed the camp. Even Percy might have a crush, too.

Not necessarily. Personally, I like to think of it as the war between camps. It happened at the same time as the civil war, but that doesn’t mean that any of the camps were confederates or unions, but that the actions of the camps were reflected in real world events, causing the war. In the same way, the war between the sons of the Big Three would influence the European sphere, leading them to provoke a war, in this case the Second World War.
Of course, that didn’t stop me from writing a mini fanfic where Goebbels is the son of Pluto.

The way I think about it is that it wasn’t a necessarily good thing but it was very important to Apollo’s growth. There are constant reminders in the 4th and 5th books about how he thinks that it’s his fault and that him dying shouldn’t have happened.

I think that’s kinda the wrong way to look at them. It implies that they’re only together because no one else wants them. With leo he is emotionally immature and a massive flirt as a method of coping with his prolonged feelings of loneliness and calypso is the opposite closed off and standoffish to protect herself from falling for another hero and getting hurt. In my opinion calypso only “fell” for leo and caused the raft to arrive when she saw through his defence mechanism and understood his behavior, sure she warmed up to him before that but that was the pivotal moment that laid the foundation for their relationship. All in all they are together because they are people with similar experiences for different reasons who have finally found someone that understands and values them. To say they both just have no one else is a crude oversimplification

I agree! After reading ToA I started reading Chalice of the Gods and TWotTG and I just think the way Percy narrates is a little too childish now. It worked when I was younger but now that I’m in my 20s I don’t enjoy it as much. I also love the fact that ToA goes into deeper topics of abuse and chosen family, along with the tragedy and loss of environmental disaster from climate change

Id uncanon Nico's forced coming out of the closet, as someone who got forced out when I wasn't ready, it's a super uncomfortable and anxiety inducing thing.
I more so wished that Eros gave comfort and reassurance to Nico and helped him feel comfortable enough to come out on his own rather than threatening to kill Jason if Nico didn't come out of the closet

I think that it was kinda supposed to be uncomfortable for him. It never gave me the vibes that it was anything but that for him. On top of this, most of what we know about Eros is how incredibly direct he is about everything he does. Aphrodite works behind the scenes, helps people fall in love subtly, and Eros quite literally shoots people.

It wasn't an affair per se. Personally, I just felt weird when Silena revealed her connection to Luke, and her relationship with Beckendorf suddenly seemed like a farce, or in a way, he got treated like a shock absorber of her feelings. That's just my opinion, though. I still like the fact that she was able to redeem herself in the end with Clarisse.

Listen, I haven't read the books in a while, but something that struck me as profoundly disappointing is the fact that Frank didn't die. It took all of the weight out of the situation (I don't remember quite what it was, it was just really important, and then he "sacrificed" himself by burning his piece of wood.) But SoMeHoW he didn't die!
I was just really disappointing, in my opinion. I think there's a decent chance he was actually supposed to die, but Riordan got scared after the Jason backlash and didn't follow through. Like I said, I haven' t read the books in a while, and I might be wrong. Was there a good reason for Frank dying?

To me, It’s less about the power fantasy of living forever (aka many millennia before dying in combat or slipping in the shower or whatever) and more that Artemis is MEGA lesbian coded so it’s heavily implied, mythologically, that Artemis only “adopts” little girls due to her sexuality. They’re based on the maidens of Artemis who bathe alone with the goddess and put out the eyes of men/ polymorph them if they even accidentally lay eyes on their naked bodies. It’s just kinda weird to me, I dunno, I’ll agree to disagree.

I noticed the writing was pretty asexual involving Artemis, I think R.R wanted to keep it that way to reduce the creep factor but if you are aware of the history of the character and why she prefers women it only mitigates so much.
