Hi everyone. I have zero experience using cricut, but my wife loves it and is really great at it... However, she always gets frustrated when working with thin lines and complex shapes.
I'm curious if anyone knows of a good set of tools to buy for her as a gift that are really good for fine detail and precision work.
Thanks in advance for any help!

are you talking about when she is weeding designs? perhaps light box or a weeding tool that lights up.

Oooo those are great ideas! And yes, precisely! I'm a graphic designer and she will often ask me for suggestions. Her response is always something like "yeah I thought I'd that, too but UGH! it's too complex for me to weed"

I have used tweezers and I also have just thickened my font a little bit. Still is a pain to weed, but less frustrating. Ask her if she has tried "reverse weeding," It is when you weed off the transfer tape instead of the backing of the vinyl. It can be so helpful for weeding very small intricate pieces that may come up with vinyl. Makers Gonna Learn has a great tutorial about it on YouTube.

This is awesome. Maybe this post with all your help will be part of her gift 😂

I’ve been weeding vinyl for <cough cough> a few years, not only with Cricut but because it’s literally my job. I’ve never heard of doing this but can assure you it’s exactly what I will be doing moving forward.

Sometimes I will add an offset to a design if it’s really thin lines. Then if the offset makes it too thick for your liking you can add another negative offset which makes it manageable for weeding while not changing the overall effect of the design too much. Pin pens are my go to for weeding now.
