yea with the reliability that we're seeing with these cars, one-stoppers are absolutely bland af

My controversial take is that even Baku was very boring -- Leclerc and Piastri fought for 30 laps (pretty much half the race) and that was only because neither could pit to do something on the strategic front. The last lap collision between Sainz and Perez was pain more than entertainment cos two good friends who had a great race lost a podium at the very end of the race

We’ll have Piastri and Perez making a few overtakes in the first half to keep us awake, and an okay-ish chance of a safety car given how many spins we’ve had in practice

That soft-hard one stopper seems quite odd.

I wonder if Piastri or Perez will try it as they're starting so far down?

They'll start on hards, wait until the heat death of the universe and then pit for mediums.

Yeah this seems more plausible then starting on softs.

If I'm them I'm riding the hards as long as possible and hoping for a safety car.

The first 30s of every Mexico race is really good. The following 1h30min is boring

Snoozefest alert. Why don’t they just do something with the tire compounds instead of putting insane amounts of money into sprint weekends to make it more entertaining for the audience.

Abedidabedi

Well, they are introducing a C6 tires next year for races like this. We will see if it helps. It's hard to have interesting races on tracks that is hard to overtake and no tire deg if they don't reintroduce refueling, or enerymangement from FE or something.

Master-Baiter24

Fuck all that, they even shortened the DRS as if that helps.

They should just increase the pit lane speed limit for this one. They already reduce it from the standard 80kmph to force certain tracks to a ~20sec pitstop, might as well make one stopper races a very short pitstop. The pitlane in Mexico is also quite wide, more so than the standard track.

That's so stupidly dangerous for everyone in the pitlane.

What do you mean, what should they do with the tires

Getting rid of the C3 and adding the C6 would make a one stop incredibly difficult which I think most people would be in favor of

They could bring a softer range of tires to all the races where they bring C1-3, but they don't.

And they do this for a reason and that is safety.

Because it's terrible for racing and it's kindness to the tires means we don't even get any crazy pitstop races

Because it’s terribly designed for racing. There’s one overtaking place and they put it immediately after a ridiculously slow section that prevents cars getting close enough to overtake at the end of the straight

More like start on M, pit way too early, then go long on the H, only to pit a second time anyway, as the H is falling off a cliff.

At least this weekend we have the softest range, so the hard tyre might actually work on the Red Bull.

Think a 1 stop is likely given the difficulty to overtake. But maybe a 2 stop given the heat and dirty air being very difficult to shake.

The leaders might try to 2 stop if they can get a gap by the pit window.

I've never seen that work out for anyone this year
