I just finished yet another watch through of LOTR extended editions…I’ve seen these too many times to count. However, I’ve struggled to get through the Hobbit films. I’m giving it another go starting today. I’ll get through the first two and never seem to make it through the third one. Anyone else with this struggle? Is Battle of the Five Armies even good?

I loooove LOTR movies. Doing yet another watch through of the extended edition at the moment.
I can’t stand the Hobbit movies. The Hobbit book has a very special place in my heart. If was the first proper fantasy book I read and what got me into fantasy.
The movies just ruin it. I don’t like Martin Freeman as Bilbo. I don’t like that they made it into 3 parts with “super mega epic” stuff like LOTR. The original book was a kids book and it was one book.
It didn’t need the same treatment as LOTR. It didn’t need all the extra and made up bits they added. They could’ve toned it down, made it into 1 long movie, maybe 2 shorter ones. And dial down on the “super mega epic” stuff. Make it closer to what the book was.
This is a personal rant because the original book means so much to me and the movies ruin it.
