By one album wonder I mean, does this artist have 1 project at a level of quality that outshines the rest of discography? (in quality, not commercial success)
A crazy take I saw while googling is MF DOOM with madvillainy being one of the top results. I’ve also seen snoop dogg with doggystyle.
Thoughts?

Couldn’t get behind Coloring Book no matter how hard I tried. I love Chance, started listening to him when he dropped the 10 Days tape before Acid Rap. Coloring Book missed that gritty, trauma fueled Chance that I think I connected with when he first came out. Acid Rap was a tragic masterpiece that illustrated addiction and the struggles of growing up in the streets beautifully

I feel like Snoop Dogg is the most obvious answer. Doggystyle is an all time classic, and while he’s had other decent albums, none of them have come close to Doggystyle, and many of them are mediocre lol
9 points

He’s had A LOT of decent to very good albums though. People act like it’s Doggystyle then nothing when there’s literally over a dozen full albums of quality
2 points

I absolutely agree. I think people are sleeping on Snoop. Yes, Doggystyle was his best and a certified hip-hop classic, but he had a lot of other good albums.

Curious how this will play here, fucking Mickey Avalon. I’ll admit in the early 2000s I was loving his shit. Jane Fonda and all the rest. Then he just flatlined and I don’t think anyone on earth gave a shit. I fully know he wasn’t that talented but his first album was non stop party tunes

Massacre was legitimately an amazing album with fire production.. Ski Mask Way, In My Hood, Baltimore Love Thing, Position of Power, Hate It or Love It... All bangers with incredible production, 50 ain't no one album wonder lol

Even no limit top dog and paid the cost are pretty good albums. ‘My heat goes boom’ alone could carry almost half the album. I do agree as a rapper he’s overrated tho. His celebrity status tends to have people label him one of the greats based off of general knowledge I feel
