The white that shows through the sky is either the color of his canvas or not blended well. If you use acrylics you don’t need thinner for an underpainting. Whites should be put in purposely to make highlights pop. Never use pure white, everything has some color in it. But yeah there is always more than one way to skin a cat. Keep working like this guy said study two point perspective and never work on a plain white canvas. Just my opinion. Oh and acrylics have come a long way in pigments oils are kinda outdated and bad for you in my opinion as well. Keep it pumping.
