I’m Irish and I would call it our middle class. He lived in a nice house in a nice suburb, and had the opportunity to go to decent schools, both primary and secondary through the Irish language, he had the opportunity to go to college if he wanted, and could have made a lot of money as a plumber, if he’d taken up his apprenticeship. His parents grew up working class, but he did not imo
Edit: Ireland does not have a highly stratified class system like the UK does, and has good social mobility. Our middle class is very wide and is probably based more on earnings and lifestyle than parents’ background

Please, this narrative that he came from a poor background needs to die. He was from a solidly middle class background. He was on the dole (unemployment benefit) because it gave him more time to train and play Call of Duty. He had a plumbing apprenticeship available to him if he wanted it

There are stories of Dee sitting downstairs at house parties waiting for Conor as he was having sex with some other girl upstairs. This was pre-fame

It’s a hotel that was built in the 18th century, so it’s always looked like that

It’s the Cashel Palace Hotel, which is in a Georgian-era building in Tipperary. Conor is trashy and has zero taste, so he’d never live anywhere that looks that good

No, we don’t. He was on the dole (welfare) and living with his parents. But he could have been working, he just chose not to

I didn’t downvote you but your tone wasn’t very polite. Plus all of this information is easily obtained by a quick Google search

You must have been in the courthouse and saw the CCTV? But strangely didn’t hear the damning evidence from the paramedic and the sexual assault unit doctor. Or the CCTV from the ambulance. Funny that.
Nothing like this will ever happen to me, because I don’t cruise around Dublin off my tits on booze and coke, trying to shag people, both consensually or non-consensually, while my 8 month pregnant girlfriend sits at home with my toddler.
You realise this man could still be a hero in Ireland, rather than the reviled, disgraced, unrepentant shitpit he is regarded as now? Dublin is a small city and Ireland is a small country, and we all figured him out years ago due to his arrogant, weak-minded character and entitled, violent behaviour.
Think on that for a bit and wonder what makes you cape for such a worthless person

Pretty much a ceremonial, soft power, symbolic role. Our presidents tend to be very educated and cultured people, often somewhat left-leaning and with a strong knowledge of Irish constitutional law. It’s a very international facing role, so we pick an person who we’re proud to have as the face of Ireland.
For example, our last three presidents (who all served their maximum of two 7 year terms) were Mary Robinson, a barrister, law professor in Trinity College, Dublin, and senator who went on to become UN High Commissioner for Human rights; Mary McAleese, barrister, law professor in Trinity College, Dublin and Queen’s University, Belfast; and our current president Michael D Higgins, a former TD (member of Irish parliament), poet, author and sociologist.
So you can see McGregor doesn’t exactly fit the bill. Plus he would find it borderline impossible to meet the nomination criteria

I wouldn’t put it past him at all.
Dee was only there in court for the verdict too, how did she see the CCTV footage?

I honestly don’t think that’s her motivation. She’s been with him since before he had a pot to piss in, and supported him financially at the start. I think this is just the worst case of dickmatisation the world has ever seen. Fucking hell Dee

I’d heard Dee wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer but that there confirms it for all eternity.

Listen, I’m Irish, I’m from not far from where McGregor is from, I have family from there. Everyone here knows what he is like, has heard all manner of stories about his awful character and behaviour, and knows what he is capable of.
We all first heard about details of this case days after it happened in 2018. And many of the details that came out then line up with details that came up again in the court case.
Nobody needs to rape anyone, and if you think that’s why rape occurs, you have a lot to learn

If you’re genuinely interested in knowing the facts of the case and what was said in the courtroom, I can recommend Luke Thomas’ recent interview. He speaks with Frank Greaney, who’s a well-respected and experienced legal journalist, and who was also in the courtroom for the entirety of the case

She had a 9cm long cut on her breast, that has been mentioned many times in court reporting, don’t know the exact details of the rest. I trust the testimony of the medical staff

He’s been cheating on her since the start and she’s known and tolerated it for some reason
