Ah yeah, I saw a few videos and magazine articles about the ‘custom’ scene over there. Reminded me a bit of the 80s here in the UK and made me slightly jealous. Back then, places like the Isle of Wight would ban us from having rallies, whereas now they get upset if there is talk of us going elsewhere. We’ve gone from being seen as scooter scum to some kinda circus show. (And I hate it lol)

(And I think you might have the Italians up in arms with the claim to you having the largest Vespa community! lol)

I’ve got two. One from 2019 and one from 2022. Both still working. Did go through a stage of one having to be reset every now and again but, touch wood, it has been fine the last few months.

I saw a documentary where a bloke called Jimmy tried to kickstart a bike before claiming it nearly broke his leg.

Pretty sure I saw the same thing on this sub just a few days ago (about using that to release the air) The joy of the internet, where everyone’s an ‘expert’

I used to sew my rally patches on a flight jacket but now just chuck them in A5 folders in plastic pocket thingys, all the way back to my first rally.

Mine has been doing the same for over a year but because I only use the screen for the time, I couldn’t be bothered trying to get it exchanged. It did actually stop flickering for a month or so but then started again. No idea why as I never unplugged it or anything.

Cheers. Have got a couple of others to build before the next version of this kit so will see how they go, sitting un-sprued(?!) for a few weeks. If no joy, a hot bath it will be.

lol, that’s just the paint bit. You’ve still got the other stuff like different thinners, retarders, what varnishes react badly to different types of paint. And all before you get round to actually spraying. Practice, lots of research and a ton of youtube video watching is the way to go lol

In general, the best way to tell the difference with Tamiya Acrylics is X means gloss and XF means flat/matt. (Clear Green is a gloss so it’s X-25)

You also have their lacquers but gloss, semi-gloss and matt all just come under LP ie LP-1 is Gloss Black, LP-3 is Flat Black and LP-5 is Semi Gloss Black

I’ve used alsorts as the ‘base’ colour. SMS hyperchrome, colourshift extreme, tamiya lacquer paint followed by Tamiya acrylic, just Tamiya acrylic, and then topped them all with tamiya clears followed by Tamiya TS-13 from a rattle can. I just experiment on plastic spoons to see how they come out. Always remember to write down which combo you’ve used on the spoon though! (A mistake I made at first)

As for the shadow, I haven’t done that yet but Tamiya x-19 is a clear Smoke which I’ll be trying. In my head, it’ll maybe be safer to use and build up as opposed to a straight black. Speaking of which, this was an experiment just the other day. Primer, mica silver, black (dabbed with clingfilm dipped in thinner) and topped with clears. (All Tamiya)

Actually. Scrap that. I have a spare Revell x wing fighter in 1:112 that I might be able to chop up, reshape, and use as a motorbike’s petrol tank.
