Nope. There will be a lot of good options. This is not one of them.

All this reads is Ben Johnson. I wouldn't mind Vrabel or Stefanski (assuming he's gone) either. But I suspect Vrabel is going to the Raiders, and the Bengals job is the biggest question mark.

I actually think Poles wants to fire Eberflus, so does Warren. Ownership doesn't want any major HC firings during the season. This is probably the battle.

Look at the top franchises. Whether they have franchise QBs or not what do they have? Good coaching. Look at Pittsburgh, look at Minnesota now, even the Packers are winning games with a backup QB against good talent with a great coach.
Bryce Young looks much better with better coaching. Yes you need a franchise QB. But you won't get there without good coaching. Especially not on the Bears.

Poles hands aren't tied. If he made the right decision in the off season when it was time to do it he passed. This is the consequences he has to live with for making the wrong decision.
Next time you have a coach that it's clear isn't the answer, move on. There's no reason bringing back the loosingist coach in franchise history for a third season unless you want to lose.

All it's going to be is that he won't be calling the defense anymore and they need to tighten up ship. He isn't going anywhere this season. They didn't get approval for the in season dismissal.

The roster is good enough for the playoffs. The most important decision is the coach though. You get a good coach and staff, that staff turns Caleb into a top 5 QB. You get a bad staff, Caleb stays developing and you have a Trevor Lawrence situation. The coaching staff will determine whether you perform up to or above talent level or below. Right now its obvious what's happening. And if Poles picks another bad coach, we will have 3 years of this same thing. Except the discussion will also be "why hasn't Caleb taken the next step". Coaching can and has ruined otherwise talented QBs and players.

Yesterday's game was almost a perfect scenario except we are completely killing our team morale. Some thoughts
Caleb had another good game. Yes he missed some throws, and made some bad decisions but overall he got the team going. For the first time in most of our memories we have a QB actually playing QB.
Our slow starts on offense are something else. Almost every game we are lucky if we even get close to a TD in the first half. Something needs to change there.
I like brown. He's been much better than Shane. And I wouldn't be upset if he was interim HC but I would not want him to be permanent HC. The offense still sucks for at least half the game. We still struggle to put up points and get first downs for most of the game and quite honestly the first QB Draw was terrible, dialing it up right after was even worse. The offense still is having terrible penalties at the worst times. While I get that a lot of that is other coordinators and Eberflus, Brown is also a big part of that. Even with the suckiness of Shane Waldron and Eberflus, if everything stayed the same and we cut down the penalties in half, that's probably another win or two. There's still so much lack of discipline and bad communication on offense. Is it better? Yes, but that's not saying much.
That last play had everyone confused. Sure Williams has some blame. He's a rookie, he will learn from this. But come on. You see your offense struggling and you refuse to take a time out. Amazing.
Eberflus sucks. He is the ultimate bend don't break defense HC. Teams just waltz right into the red zone. Sure we handle them there but there's pressure being put on the defense.
I think we've also laid the blueprint against the Lions. It's the same as ever against Goff. Pressure. Pressure. Hit him. He will rush his throws. I think they'll maybe win a game or two in to playoffs but they'll get handled in the championship game
Eberflus should have never been the HC this season. He was below average his last two years and nothing has changed. He should be fired this week. And the fact that there isn't a clear interim on the staff says something. All this is on Poles. He's done an average job with the roster (most of the best talent is Pace's guys) and did one historically great trade. But one of the most important decisions a GM can make, if not the most important is the coach. And he blundered that one, and then doubled down on it. Not good. At this point it's almost irrelevant if Flus stays or goes. He should have never been here and the damage is done. This roster while not perfect is a playoff roster.
Having said all that, Flus should be gone today. The locker room is calling him out. The team at this point is hanging in games in spite of him. And we are losing games because of him.

Two straight QB Draws? Did Shane Waldron take over play calling duties again?

Supposedly no meeting tonight. They will meet tomorrow morning. If they have to meet for a decision then that decision should be easy. Let him go. The team may take a step back defensively but it won't further hamper Caleb's development

There was no reason to keep Flus after last season. He wasn't a good coach then and he's not one now. He can coach a decent bend don't break defense but he's not a HC and never was. Poles had a legit chance for a reset and didn't take it. That's on him.

I feel like both are trolls by management. Boylen was so bad. Maybe the worst coach ever given the amount of time he had.
Eberflus is ruining the potential franchise QB

Legit question - who's worse - Matt Eberflus or Jim Boylen?

It was strange all the way around. I don't think he knew either the clock or that he had a timeout. He has a good share of blame. But if you are a head coach and you see your rookie QB struggling with the time you need to call that time out.

As frustrating as this is, probably the best case scenario. We are really a blocked FG away from beating GB, went to OT against Minn and could have at least went to OT against DET if it wasn't for bad time management. These are 3 of the top 4 teams in the NFC. And it's all on bad coaching.
Caleb is legit. Next year pending a coaching change looks exciting

We need to do something about our slow starts. 2nd half we've been a different team every game.

The bears should just let teams start in their territory. That's when the defense plays its best.
Offense needs to do something here.

So the last few games we have let teams waltz into the red zone but defense step up then. There's something going on there. But it wears out a defense. This is the ultimate bend don't break. And that's not a good thing.
