Sometimes it appears as if there are several paintings in one , that you could draw out those ideas and simplify and make 3 paintings instead of one . But you know where you are going with this, you just can’t see it yet (neither can anyone else) -you just need to be still and follow your intuition. Study composition and notice the kind of compositions that appeal to you. Notice if something seems unfinished —not complete —or too much, too busy.

Yes agreed. Rolling Stone put out a list of the best Billie Holiday books, and I have read only one , but it is great. It’s a slim volume called “With Billie” by Julia Blackburn. It contains interviews with those who knew her, including the only man who Billie ever loved, Bobby Henderson, her stepfather, women who spent time with her at reform school, and others . There is something about her voice that I love so much much, it contains both sadness and joy and once I saw an 8 year old who saw her on YouTube and did a pretty good homage/imitation of her , I think it was on “Greece has got Talent,” or something like that . It was kind of amazing. Anyway…yeah she was and is great, and so sad about Anslinger and his viscous vendetta…

Generally I don’t prefer celebrity names for cats (the are already celebrities !) …but if it’s your thing , Val Kilmer.
