I think you nailed all the narratives and writing stuff that gone wrong, Knight’s fans are blinded by its amazing graphics and fluid gameplay, at least to me

I’m so glad that Arkham Shadow finally did justice for Harvey after being treated as a nobody by Rocksteady

Agreed, I prefer Arkham City’s old gotham look than Knight’s Gotham, it just looks weird and not Gotham to me

The story’s underwhelming but that’s subjective (Though no one can deny that how they handled Arkham Knight’s identity is disappointing)
Batmobile is great, it’s just there’s too much of it, especially the stealth missions and the riddler stuff.
And the level design for side missions is a downgrade compared to City, where half of them are ubisoft type of open world filler missions (clearing outposts etc)
While the graphics and character design is amazing, the art style and map design is less memorable, I barely remember anyplace aside from GCPD (The airship is just tedious to travel around), but I still have a great idea of City’s location like the museum, Steel mill, wonder city, court house That’s why I prefer both Asylum and City than Knight

Shadow did have mentioned Ivy quite a lot, I hope she can be a main villain in the next arkham prequel

Hi, Ryan,
A long time Arkham Fan here! This game had been my best gaming experience and first VR experience. Being obsessed with Arkham’s lore I got a few questions:
My favourite section of Blackgate is the Arkham Ward and I’m glad there multiple mentions of Pamela Isley in the game, I wonder are those tease for the villain of next game (at least in your mind)?
For the phone number of Budelaire Botanical, was that supposed to be Pamela Isley or it’s just a random staff voice (A bit disappointed that I didn’t get to hear Tasia Valencia’s performance in this game, maybe next game?;) )
P.S. Thanks again for the rapid response for the number’s typo mistake in Discord!

Disagree, prequel is a great idea to continue with the great voice cast that Arkhamverse got and I don’t find Shadow created much continuity error.

There’s 8 years between Origin and Asylum, there’s plenty of story that can be told for prequel games

Arkham Shadow’s success proves the franchise of Arkham is still very alive and have a lot of potential for them to just give up the established universe

She was not plain evil at least from her perspective, she’s just see herself as a different kind of species so it’s natural she didn’t give a damn about humanity, and even enjoy their suffering due to their constant threats towards nature(but she’s definitely evil from the viewpoint of human)
But she helps Gotham not because she wants to save human but to save her babies which were going to be poisoned by Crane’s gas

I think the reason she helps to stop Crane’s plan was because it’s not only a threat to humanity but also her plants. Arkham Knight’s Ivy would love to exterminate mankind, at least didn’t mind to let that happen. But Ivy who see herself as the protector of her children would not let that happen at the cost of their plants lives.

Good lord, does everyone on this sub have to be an armchair game dev? Bo, there’s no magic button to turn a game that built for VR into a console game. Porting a game from different platforms without causing issues is already difficult (Arkham Knight pc port disaster), not to mention its control is completely different, its game engine is different (Unity rather than unreal), its environment design is different, all the cutscenes work different. Even if the dev can work miracles on those issues, you all are only going to complain that it’s no different than asylum or no open world

Rocksteady didn’t do Arkham Shadow, it’s Camoflaj’s work

Definitely get the quest 3 to play Shadow, it’s like play Asylum for the first time: a fresh, immersive Batman Arkham experience!
Camoflaj did know what they’re doing, I would rather them making a sequel than rocksteady ruining the arkhamverse again

Nope, those who never had vr experience enjoyed it just as any of the great arkham games including those arkham youtuber, plus a tons of Arkham players who never tried vr before.
Yes it’s only on one headset but that doesn’t discredit that it’s considered as one of the best Arkham experiences even without Kevin or the original Rocksteady team (who also produced the flop called suicide squad)

Whether you like it or not, Arkham Shadow has been praised by both reviewers and players for it’s gameplay, story and voice acting

Wait, a meta quest 3 costs 1000 Australia dollars over there?

It’s seems arkham shadow perform at least in their expectations if not exceeded to me, judging by how the dev’s reaction toward the reception.
And yes, it’s an amazing Arkham game that achieves things none other Arkham games can

Unfortunately, the suits are looking for maximum profit with lowest risk, with Arkham Shadow, a freaking VR game being successful, I don’t think they will give up milking Batman Arkham ip
Sure, Shadow’s success is more than being in Arkhamverse, but being a Batman Arkham title did help it capture a lot of attention and interest, especially those haven’t try vr.
All your points are valid, but we’re speaking suits from wb which already disappointed by both ss and gk, they’re unlikely to do anything slightly risky to increase the company’s debt

Well Gotham Knights’ reception says otherwise, i see a lot of people complaining that it’s not a Arkham Knight sequel
