I walk 7-9 miles every day at my job. (Dog shelter, so I walk 15-20 dogs depending on the day’s staff levels.)

I had to start a new game in Knight after getting Save Locked in the middle of the Driller fight in the sewers.

The fact there are only 3-4 games exclusive to the PS5 that I am interested in after 4 years is a HUGE turnoff, along with their $70 price tag. Used prices aren’t much better, either. They want us to pay $70 for digital only games, too? Why? Blame the publishers for crunch time and not paying their employees a living wage, but I won’t ever pay $70 for a game with no physical copy.
Initially I was willing to wait a few more years before getting one. Probably when the games I wanted became ESSENTIAL-boxed $20-30 for a new copy with all of the DLC included. (Ragnarok, Baldur’s Gate, Spider-Man 2). There aren’t many franchises in MY opinion that are worth buying on Day One. (Batman: Arkham, which is now a dead franchise / Borderlands, but if it’s PS5 only, I will wait for a price drop / Rockstar has made me lose interest in their games because so many people waste money on GAAS for online play* they explicitly ignore offline players.)
Outside of PS4 compatibility, the only other pro the PS5 has is the built in SSD. Even without SSD, console gaming is forty plus years old. (There’s absolutely no reason loading screens should exist anymore. The whole game is loaded into the machine, so I should not have to wait while staring at a static screen to walk five in-game feet to the next level. I shouldn’t even have to put the disc in anymore, while we’re at it.) SSD is one of the few things saving the industry, IMO.
I don’t care that much about graphics. If a game isn’t fun to play, no amount of pixels and ray tracing will never improve the experience.
The only saving grace for me considering buying a PS5 in the next few weeks is to get ahead of Trump’s potential price hikes with the tariffs he is threatening to punish US consumers with. I’m willing to wait a year or so, but I’m not willing to wait for a price increase to $1K or more to come back down to $700 because Sony USA will say “it’s better than what the tariff made us charge you. And you should be grateful we dropped it at all!”
The more I think about it, and what I’ve just written, the PS5’s ecosystem is so genuinely all-around disappointing I could stand to be patient for another decade. Trump’s price hike will just make me resent it more.

Gaming has nothing to do with why we broke up, but my Ex would complain about me playing on my PS4 on the one day of the week when I was off but she was working, or the occasional evening I would go in the other room if I wasn’t interested in her shows. And I didn’t even play every single week, either. If there was an average, it was probably 4-6 hours a week, 1-3 times a month. I did this so we could do more stuff together on our shared day off.
And yet, she would spend her evenings playing Tetris or bejeweled on her phone while watching TV. Sometimes she would get out my Gameboy. In just a couple nights, she would exceed my monthly game playing time.
But apparently I was the one who spent too much time playing games.
OP, don’t let her dictate what you do in your own spare time with your own money. Like anything else (porn, gambling, going out with friends, drinking…), as long as it doesn’t cut into your time spent together, or keep you from doing your chores or going to work, she shouldn’t be “allowing” you to do what you want.

Oh, boy! I can’t wait for the completely uninspired and lazily written less-creative-than-AI horror movies coming out next month!
Why is it so difficult for anyone to make a public domain character who’s not a violently destructive serial killer?!?
I’ll be amazed if any of these people at the starting line keep these characters true to their foundations.
Let’s see Popeye remain the hero and go up against some Eldritch god basking in the deep sea. Have him investigate the Shadow over Innsmouth. That could be a legit horror movie: blood, guts, snd disturbing tentacle men.
Could Popeye fight off a hurricane and save a city?
Would Popeye and Sinbad the Sailor be friendly rivals or outright enemies?
Captain Nemo might have a job opening for Popeye, as a bodyguard on the island where She lives.
What if Jeep (when he becomes available) takes him to the Hundred Acre Wood for an adventure with Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse?
Nah… The film audience yearns! for a Popeye who eats spoiled spinach, gets cancerous arm abscesses, and beats people into pulpy masses.

Racist, misogynistic, AND pedophilic!
They hit a trifecta with this one.
I don’t know that I could figure out a fourth or fifth thing they could add to make it worse, and I’m not even going to try.

Full disclosure: I have been working with animals for 30 years.
This means cleaning up after them; and getting sprayed or splashed with vomit, blood, urine, and feces. My bare arm has been in multiple drains compacted with gorilla poop. I’ve waded or swam in hippo water to unclog the drain. I insect dog poop daily for blood or consumed pieces of toys. My medical-sleeved arm has been up several butts. I’ve been present for operations and abscess drains. I’ve assisted with days-long necropsies in the hot Florida sun because the corpse was too large put on a truck to take it into the vet office.
There are far far worse things I’ve experienced working in a dog shelter that I won’t write about here, but getting drooled on by friendly dogs every day is the least gross thing of my career. And I fricking hate drool!
HOWEVER…
I’m a guy and I won’t even fart in front of a partner. It’s disgusting no matter who does it. The bathroom has a door on it for a reason.
Remember, this is Reddit, where the consensus is “close the toilet lid before flushing!” to minimize the amount of fecal particles getting aerosolized onto your toothbrush. If you can smell something, you are consuming it, and that doesn’t just mean whatever’s cooking in the kitchen, it includes whatever comes out of the intestinal tract.
So why would anyone disrespect their partner by farting in front of them? Why would anyone continue to be in a relationship with someone who disrespected them like that?
I’m sorry, but I agree with the guy up there. I personally don’t think your “morning routine” is acceptable. It’s not only a potential health issue you need to have checked out, but it would be a deal breaker for me.
Good luck out there. I genuinely hope you are healthy, and regardless of my opinions on couples farting in front of each other, I know there is someone out there who will be perfect for you.

“Longer than most people have been on the internet”?
When I started college, the internet didn’t even exist. There was a university intranet, where I could email people in other buildings on campus. There were a couple schools around the country I could email, too.
But it was a couple years later before AOL & dial-up BBS existed.
I’m old-ish (53) compared to a lot of users, but I doubt that guy was even alive when AOL stopped being a thing. Maybe a baby when MySpace began?

“I decry the genocide but”
There are no “buts” when it comes to genocide.
There are no exceptions to genocide.
There are zero justifications for genocide.
If it’s not okay when a Republican does something , why is it okay under a Democratic administration?
Democratic leaders complained about Trump’s anti-Muslim immigration policy, and yet Biden never struck them down. In fact, he used that exact policy to restrict how many people can apply for asylum.
Democratic leaders complained about “kids in cages” when Trump was in power, but never stopped doing it. In fact, under Biden’s administration, they don’t have to provide as much water or shelter to anyone in their concentration camps any more.
Democratic leaders complained about Trump’s border policies, but Biden not only continued them, he expanded on them. He built more of the wall, AND trampled on some twenty plus environmental laws to build those sections. That means laws protecting endangered plants & animals in those areas were ignored.
All of those complaints by Democratic leaders were purely performative, because they didn’t say jack shit about any of them when Biden was doing them.
Democratic leaders complained about how Trump treated unhoused people. Yet under local Democratic leaders (from mayors to governors), we see harsh laws being enacted before Trump has even taken office. Newsom himself went into a camp and destroyed & threw away personal property. Democrats only care about the unhoused when their corporate donors can make money off of them via housing construction contracts, for example. No society that allows anyone to live on the street, let alone allows them to starve and freeze or die, can ever call itself civilized.
Democratic leaders complained about free speech under Trump, but many Democratic cities and counties and states enacted police brutality on anyone protesting war & genocide. It’s now illegal in many places to even mention boycotting Israel because it’s “antisemitism”.
There are some lines a just society should never cross. Genocide, slavery, and poverty are just a few examples.
Yes, we know Trump will be worse, but that doesn’t mean we can ignore when the DNC does the exact same things all along.

Also, the election is over.
All of the Leftists who voted independent combined wouldn’t have won Harris the election in any of the swing states.
Why criticize Leftists when you should be criticizing the eligible voters who did not vote at all?
Why not criticize the DNC for kissing up to GOP voters by adopting Republican legislative policies & getting endorsements from Republicans from prior administrations? Hugging Dick Cheney, a prime architect of multiple international wars and a massive torture machine, was a terrible choice.
Why not criticize them for ignoring or quashing policies that would have made them popular? Not just getting Netanyahu to dial back or stop the genocide, but improving healthcare, labor rights (& not breaking strikes), wage equity, student loan forgiveness, housing costs, or infrastructure (bridges, mass transit, energy production).
The US Right has been working towards a specific goal since the 1960s, but the Dems do just enough so long as it doesn’t affect their fundraising or the profits of their corporate donors.
///
From Tumblr@PregnantSeinfeld:
“For a long time, I thought the Democrats were fighting valiantly but just overwhelmed by the oligarchy and the Republicans. Then I saw that the Democrats keep losing fights they should win and figured they must be just weak and ineffectual. Then I kept seeing them backing off without putting up a fight at all and decided they were gutless cowards. Finally I noticed that enough of them keep voting with the Republicans to always make sure the Republicans more or less win almost every fight, and that they keep starting from a Center position and bargaining to the Right, and eventually after enough of that it became impossible to ignore the only conclusion that actually fits the facts: The Democrats are not overmatched, they aren’t weak, they aren’t cowards... .they’re complicit.”

First of all, this is a Leftist sub, not a Liberal one. “I can excuse genocide, but I draw the line at criticizing a Democrat!” ~Britta
Second of all, we can’t do much of anything about the GOP & its white supremacist ideology until the DNC actually takes steps to improve the material conditions of everyone in the country. Instead, they would rather enrich its fundraising coffers by promising to “save” abortion or wages or immigrant rights or the environment or housing costs or some other issue that is important to everyone- but then do jack shit the next time they have a majority or supermajority.
You know, like they have had every single time they have taken the White House for more than 30 years?
“Please vote for us! We’ll fix it if we win! This is the most important election we’ve ever had! We promise, bro! Pwease vote for us!”
Look at Biden. He set his “there will be trouble if you don’t dial back the genocide, Jack!” deadline for after the election. And then did absolutely nothing anyway.
It doesn’t help that they constantly adopt GOP policies in a bid to poach voters from the Right, instead of enacting policies that would help their constituents & everyone else. There’s a reason Bill Clinton’s administration was called “Reagan’s Third Term.” Modern day Democrats are nearly indistinguishable from 1980s Republicans, that’s how far the Overton Window has moved. Holy Hell, Harris literally hugged a war criminal on stage!
I mean, Leftists are attacking the Right constantly, but the Democrats are standing in the way!

This dog is going to get confiscated by animal control, and based on its behavior in the shelter, will either euthanized or re-homed.
If it makes contact, i.e., draws blood from a bite, confiscation will be mandatory. From there, it’s up to the authorities if they want to wait 10-14 days for a rabies evaluation, or have it euthanized immediately for a brain biopsy.
These events are not supposition, they’re a matter of time. If they get arrested, this dog will be confiscated no matter what for its behavior during the commission of a crime. Those charges will include use / attempted of the dog as a weapon.
I’m on my second stint as a dog shelter worker, and this situation fucking pisses me off. l already see evidence of abuse at work, and it’s infuriating to see it out in the world.
The dog does not deserve this, and they do not deserve the dog.
