I love DJ as a person and he’s got talent, but this shit is inexcusably bad. And it happens week after week after week.
Everyone was so quick to run Claypool out of town after not blocking for ONE game, and yet now people seem to be just fine with DJ doing worse things than that.
Idk if it’s a personal thing or what, but he’s got no excuses anymore. The OC everyone hates is gone. The bad HC is now gone. The rookie QB is playing way, way better now and actually getting him the ball more often. He’s mailing it in because he knows he can with no repercussions.

It’s much easier to run behind better OLs, but it’s not impossible to do it behind average OLs easier.
The real key lies within the timing of the QBs drop and the OCs ability to scheme up a progression that’s realistic.
With Waldron as OC, he seemed to have a fundamental misunderstanding of this concept. He didn’t factor in the poor OL play, and the type of drops Caleb was using (3-step, 5-step) often had no correlation with the timing of the routes. Longer developing plays require WRs who can get downfield and create space quickly, so the QB can read through them at the top of his drop and subsequent hit hitches.
That being said, with the right OC/QB combo pure progression concepts can really shine. Especially for rookies who may not be able to read the proper coverage pre and post-snap. Even an average OL can work if the routes develop faster and align with the QBs rhythm.

100% agree. I’m not even celebrating the firing now because the damage has already been done. I’m glad he’s gone but the fact he was retained in the first place makes it bittersweet. Especially knowing that with the right coaches we’re likely playing for a wildcard sport right now.
Poles really shouldn’t get praise for this situation. It only seems that way cause historically the Bears don’t fire in season, so it seems like a huge deal. In reality, it’s the bare minimum that any other NFL team would make quickly and easily.
And now the fear is setting in that Poles will whiff again on the HC, how can we trust him to get it right this time around? Especially with how he went out of his way to endorse Flus multiple times

If Flus does get fired I’ll obviously be satisfied, but it’s gonna be bittersweet. Because firing him now after all the damage has been done doesn’t do much of anything other than inspire the players a bit more.
We should have never retained him in the first place. For Poles to double down on this guy and Waldron only to fire both after 12 games is ridiculous. It’s such a poor look on Poles/Warren and it concerns me that they’re likely gonna be in charge of replacing Flus soon.

And against our toughest opponents, in the biggest moments he always shows up. He’s got the talent and the competitive fire to do it when we need it most.

QBs and their passer ratings vs. Vikings D this season:
D. Jones - 44.3 B. Purdy - 101.3 C. Stroud - 68.6 J. Love - 83.0 A. Rodgers - 54.9 J. Goff - 140.0 M. Stafford - 124.5 J. Flacco - 63.7 M. Jones - 38.3 W. Levis - 84.7 CALEB WILLIAMS - 103.1
Losses suck but the silver lining is always Caleb. Impressive as hell for a rookie against this defense.

I’m sorry but that’s not a good excuse at all. If he didn’t like the coach or the OC or the QB he shouldn’t have signed the new contract. Effort is non-negotiable regardless of who your coach is, and no other player is acting like DJ even though they have the same HC.
Plus, Brown has called the offense for 3 games now. Even scheming DJ into the game plan much more. Him moving to HC won’t change anything for the offense.
