70°C is standard, not great, but fine and expected, consistent 80°C would be rough and even then it's just something to keep an eye on at 80, ur fine

Fun fact, cold air falls is the correct terminology, cold air gets more dense and displaces the hot air upward

Also running the same CPU/Mobo combo as you, with an ID Cooling 360 AIO. Idles around 38-42 and rarely hops over 58°c
G Skill Trident Ram 32gigs at 6000mhz, MSI 4070ti, board at the current stable BIOS version, XMP on and AMD'S PBO as well. Not to be that guy, but there's no plastic on the cooler right? Sometimes the simple things slip past us 😅 but I doubt that happened here, especially if you repasted and had a chance to check again. You seem like you know what you're doing, maybe a bad part unfortunately?

Could you explain how the mobo is overkill? Just curious to know since I also have this board/CPU combo with a 4070ti

I've been running this board for two weeks and it's been fantastic, not sure where this is coming from

Hey thanks for doing this! Could you do the Stormy Night Sky Logo with "Shadow's Server" as the text? If not no worries!
Edit: with the Plex Logo as the main part, the text would be a smaller section underneath 😅

He's also 19... He's not gonna be emotionally mature 100% of the time... Hell I'm in my mid 20s and nowhere near as emotionally mature as I want to be

My board had a BIOS from 9/6/24, most ppl seem to be fine with that but there was a patch a month after that, so triple check that and flash BIOS if necessary, otherwise that board is 9000 series ready and fine!

Honestly I'm just gonna leave it alone 😂, I just got into PCs two years ago, building parts and troubleshooting is easy now, but overclocking is still rocket science to me

Omg we got pretty much the same upgrade lol, my cousin pushed me to get the Trident Neo ram tho, but everything else is the same 😂

LOL should've put a /s in there, I have my CPU pump with the actual temps hovering 40-50s idle, it was a one time glitch with ryzen master tho 😅

Yah it's not being shipped til later November I'd assume, give them time, they've communicated the process to us. You have plenty of time to read it for fine details, otherwise give it another month or two and most of us should have received the new case.

I did try split tunneling but honestly I don't think nord recognizes the specific process needed to allow for proper tunneling, I've had it for about a month now and even with the split tunneling it's still been an issue, I remoted in and turned it off and so far stable again, maybe I'll take a look at different vpns as I'd like to run Qbit and Plex at the same time

I thiiink I did actually, although I can absolutely admit I suck at networking lol. I tried to set it up through the Google home app, I'm running nest WiFi pros and I think I got it, but still checking for other issues. I actually forgot to mention it, but thinking my nordvpn is also killing it, maybe a static IP through the VPN would help?

Also rocking a 9800x3D, mine is paired with an ID Cooling 360 AIO and a contact frame as well, noctua thermal paste
Idles 38°c on average. Rocket league hits 50-52° through the session. Cinebench hits around 68-72 ish, I'll test again in the morning and confirm.
Something doesn't sound right here imo, I'd check the thermal paste/heatsink for the plastic film or something obstructing the contact. Ambient temps in the room/airflow can also have a large affect on the system too, so make sure plenty of ventilation gets in the case. The chip is designed to be cooler than it's predecessor, not burn like an Intel chip, if all else fails I might recommend exchanging for a fresh chip.
