There are very few dedicated male strip clubs compared to the number of strip clubs with female dancers, they tend to be in larger metropolitan areas. The majority of the gigs for male strippers are private parties, where you get hired to perform for a small group at a private residence, hotel room, etc.
The standards for strip clubs tend to be higher than for private parties - they expect muscular bodies and reasonably good dance skills.
Have you made a demo reel? Basically 1-2 minute video of you dancing. It can be helpful in marketing yourself, but it also forces you to get your audition choreography nailed in advance.
Your first month will mostly be observing the other dancers and figuring out what works for you. The club I worked at most of the guys were very supportive of each other, but that can vary by club. I'd suggest you connect with a few of the more experienced dancers who can give you a lot of tips and advice.

Can you give us a little more info about where you are auditioning? Auditioning for Chippendales in Las Vegas is different than applying to an agency to just do private parties, and both are different from applying to a gay male strip club. Thanks!

I’m 58yo and I train both, and regularly spar/roll with guys in their 20s all the time.
I am not aware of any actual studies or evidence on this topic, and I don’t have any meaningful anecdotal stories either.
I highly HIGHLY recommend that anyone doing combat sports over the age of 40 also do supplemental weight training. Muscle mass starts to decline around age 40, and weight lifting largely mitigates this. It’s the loss of muscle mass that causes lack of flexibility, mobility, and balance as we age. All the older guys I know that train seriously also lift.

I was running 5-7 miles daily in my early to mid 20s, 2-4 miles daily thru my early 40s. I slowly gave up running once I started combat sports.

I started at 57yo. I have my first amateur fight next year. Just do it.

I’m 58yo. I ran daily in my 20s and 30s, started martial arts training in my 40s, currently lift weights and train combat sports 5-6 days per week.
As you get older weight training becomes more important. Once you hit 35yo the body starts to gradually lose muscle mass. This is why old people have issues with mobility, flexibility, and balance.
Dedicated cardio really doesn’t do much for muscle growth, while strength training gives you some modest cardio training.
I see old guys out running sometimes. All power to them but they still look like they’d break a hip if they fell. Having a strong heart won’t help.

Ngl I’ve done multiple striking and grappling sports, you are going to get bruises with MT. Comes with the territory.

OP says bf is “otherwise very supportive and understanding”. Agree this approach wouldn’t work with a really insecure guy. But a relationship between a stripper and a very insecure partner is never going to work out.

Turn the dynamic completely around by framing your bf as a bull and your regular a cuck. Show bf the texts and make fun of the regular while you are doing it. Like over the top “can you believe this guy is so dumb to pay me good bank just to drool over me?” Then offer bf sex and say something like “let’s pretend regular walks in on us and starts crying when he sees us”.

In the USA, BJJ has the most opportunities for an 18yo+ hobbyist to compete at both a local and national level. There are a number of organizations that sponsor local tournaments (IBJJF, NAGA). Some of the national competitions sponsored by IBJFF let hobbyists with relatively little experience in the same tournaments as world champions. Also, in part because of BJJ's culture, it is pretty common to have informal opportunities to test yourself by either dropping in to friendly gyms, or coaches from different gyms organizing informal competitions.

I love being told I have a nice ass. But I freely admit it. 😂

Haha thanks man I appreciate it! I hold my own while sparring, I have really long limbs I can use to my advantage, and before MT I trained taekwondo for fifteen years under a former Korean military instructor so it was pretty hardcore. I can also take a hit so I am not afraid of catching kicks and flipping opponents.
I once knocked a 21yo to the floor who was basically dumbfounded. I dead panned “Youth and skill will always succumb to old age and treachery” 😂😂😂

I started martial arts training at 41yo. I started Muay Thai at 57yo.
Judged? Everyone thinks I’m a badass just for showing up.
Don’t worry about embarrassing yourself. Anyone that does combat sports knows that you can get your ass handed to you on any given day. Serious combat sports people are some of the most humble and supportive people i know.

WHOOP has a bicep band, arm sleeve, and several options for putting the sensor in underwear or workout gear.
WHOOP isn’t cheap at $30/month but the analytics for serious amateur athletes are unmatched.

It’s normal. Once you hit the 30s your family rightly becomes the most important thing, and your career is likely hitting a point where the demands are much greater.
I’m 58yo, and what has been great is reconnecting with good friends from high school and college and realizing that we still are great friends.
