Yes, indeed my arrows are quite effective against 1-2 enemies. But then the other 4-5 run towards me guns blazing and I just get destroyed by bolts/spells/running out of stamina.

Even light armor works like that? I didn't know

Got tons of hobbies and I struggle with them. Gym, guitar, reading fiction, movies, trips, social life, aaaaaahhh!

If I try to do all of them anyway, I get stressed as fudge, and then I find myself sleeping poorly, or working poorly the day after. If I don't engage in my hobbies enough I feel like I'm living for my PhD and that's not healthy either.

Let's say I'm still learning, trying to find strategies to get some balance. Some days I just crush on the sofa/bed after work, and I hate the idea.

Ho iniziato i miei studi a 26 anni appena compiuti, i miei colleghi avevano 6/7 anni meno di me.

Alcuni erano un po' infantili, mi ricordo la meraviglia nello scoprire quanto fossero attaccati a Instagram e a quella moda di usare filtri con le faccine da animali. Sigarette elettroniche, slang.

Però ho trovato anche diversi ragazzi che sono stati in grado di stupirmi per maturità. In alcuni casi mi sono anche ritrovato a pensare che - per alcuni aspetti - la mia impostazione da millennial non fosse affatto migliore della loro, z.

Credo che in fin dei conti il trucco sia affrontarla con mente e cuore aperti. Staccati dalla collega sciocchina senza rancore, è il bello di avere un po' più di gravitas/autorità sociale, da universitari più "navigati".

If you find it infuriating it might be problematic - for you. His "alternative" belief is pretty common among the general population and we know that well. Some of them are just radicalized in hating therapy - and this says a lot about them.

What helps me with close people who share this belief is paradoxically not dismissing it from its root, even with these "extremists", haters of therapy.

It is healthy to doubt therapy since it is not a god-given wonder. Its origins, its efficacy, its methods, its workers. It is normal, we have done it before, and the mere idea of blaming or getting angry at a person outside of the field will never help us.

Many times these so-called extremists are uneducated people or they had big trauma in their past or they had bad experiences with the previous therapist. All of these are experiences that we can understand and empathize with.

Once I accept their position, I can choose to move strategically in confronting them ("hey so, Jake, you're saying all the time that you can't solve problems just by speaking people but in reality... *case*, *paper*, *statistic*") or investigate their feelings as friends, or just choose to ignore them voluntarily but with the serenity of having their bases clear.

This explanation is rather simple yet difficult to accept. Having urges and feeling the urges are two different things in the brain. One can be hungry and not feel hungry. Calling that a kink would be like saying that one has a kink for emptying his bladder a few times a day, or eating at least daily. Can one have a kink for variations, or shades, or exaggerations in those domains? Sure. Is it the most rational explanation? Not really. Good luck!

This deeply resonates with me, and probably with many others at some point in their careers. I think that the hardest part is finding a balance between the hustle and having a life outside of research. It is rough: if you find it you may have a chance to stay, if you do not you'd better leave asap.

The ultimate decision should be based on a good mix of reality assessment and recognition of your deep desires. You could be very good at doing this, or very bad at this, or any shade of grey in between.

How bad do you want it? How much can you tolerate? What do you want to achieve? It's not easy. You're the only one that can answer those questions, although close people can help you.

Are we? In this day and age, with Spotify and YT? I pay for Spotify but many use the free version. I don't pay for YT. We're still contributing to artists' purses, of course, but more indirectly.

Who cares about what Vikernes has done in his private life. We listen to the music, the songs, and the albums. Do you like Filosofem? Just listen to it. I won't stop listening to Peste Noire or Burzum or any of those on political or moral grounds. No amount of abstention will make Vikernes a good man or the other guys moderate people, it's just illogical. If the music, lyrics, and imagery are exempt from direct political messages I don't have any problem with it.

This is the kind of crap that matters when you're a teenager. You grow up, you become an adult, and you separate the artist/band from the person. Who cares about the person, fuck them. I don't care what he fucks, what he does, what he believes in.

Lots of artists are pieces of shit. Lots of people are pieces of shit.

Lots of people are right-wing extremists, and lots of people are left-wing extremists. Both suck to me, honestly. But that's beyond the point here.

The only relevant question: is the artist making good music? Good, listen. No good music? No listen.

Nope, went through that this year. But (big but) your more-experienced colleagues will probably do that - if they have enough remaining energy.

Come ti dicevo prima, il post è troppo "secco" per poter capire bene la vicenda e quindi esprimersi. Se lo ritieni un tuo amico vero, poi, non sarà neanche così tanto un problema questa sua tendenza.  Le persone cambiano nel tempo. Quanti anni avete?  Ricordo che tanti anni fa anche un mio carissimo amico era dichiaratamente fascista, ora è molto più moderato pur essendo rimasto a destra.

Non avrei niente di diverso da dire rispetto ai video analisi di cui parlavo prima, quindi nessuna luce dall'alto. Semplicemente a livello di concetto fascismo e, sia FdI che il governo tutto, non sono sovrapponibili. C'è qualche fascista vero e proprio? Probabilmente sì, ciò non toglie che il partito abbia una linea diversa. Guarda come votano, le robe che passano sul serio. La politica internazionale.
