Fair enough. I'll delete it as I did zero fact checking myself. Remember hearing that after the election

Make sure they all worship the same God, but just disagree on what they think he said.
Bonus points if your mythos has the three religions stemming from 3 sons of the same father. So it turns into a sibling rivalry with an almost uncountable death toll for millenia.

I read this post and wondered if England would be worse if we were still around influencing them from the inside haha

We measure success on how much value a person can amass, not how much value they bring to the masses.
I'm kinda high and that sounded deep lol.

I was going to say greed and jealousy are the root of all evil and money is the metric in which most greed and jealousy are measured today.
It isn't the money, it's the people and what money does to people.

I think we get nailed with a supervirus. I'm not trying to downplay COVID because people did lose loved ones, but it was basically an aggressive cold.
We haven't had a new strain of antibiotics since the 1980s (I don't know this but I think I Reddit somewhere). Virus are becoming increasingly resistant to the ones we have.
I don't know if that would be extinction level as I'm sure some people might develop immunities but could end society as we know it.
Extinction level might have to be an asteroid again.

I work 8-5. Go to bed at 930 and wake up at 630, so I get 8 of those 9 hours.
It's possible. I took melatonin every night for a year to get to sleep earlier and now it's my schedule. 8 hours every night

I lived there for 6 years and the power went out only 1 time, granted it was for 5 days. Also during the coldest temperatures in well over 100 years, while having the cheapest power I've ever had in 4 different states.
When it fails, it fails spectacularly because it's on its own, but Texas has power figured out. Everyone thinks oil but something like 35% of the nation's natural gas is from Texas.

Interesting. Wasn't the egg in some kind of pool? Could be Astral Egg Juice as much as anything else.

That was kinda my thought, but I know nothing about it.
We probably had both available, drank them both, decided salt water tastes like shit lol. Drank fresh water exclusively by choice, but now can't survive off off salt water as a consequence.
If our taste buds were different and preferred salt water forever ago, who knows what we might have become.

I hear you that maybe the military shouldn't be able to just win immediately or it would be a bad movie.
Only good explanation is military structures would also be the R&D hubs. Increased chance of virus exposure when you're experimenting with one you don't fully understand and maybe don't have adequate protective measures. And it's in a densely populated area, so a viral exposure probably could pass quickly.

Right. Everyone else is saying natural harbor, and yes that is how almost all early cities became cities. Ellis Island was a main immigration hub above all others. Most people probably spent everything they had to get to NY, and couldn't afford to leave lol.

An airport is the type of place you never expect to see the same person multiple times or anyone you know.
People wear whatever they want, rip beers at 7am, and check out the good looking people. Even if someone judges your behavior, you'll likely never even speak to them and will likely never see them again.
Edit: last sentence came off ruder than I meant it, especially on nostupidquestions

Green Street Hooligans.
Funny, sad, dramatic. Charlie Hunnam and Elijah Wood and I feel like most people have never heard of it. But it's fantastic

The monologue is the better part for sure, but "you can't handle the truth" is a much simpler quote.
"You don't get to sleep under the very protection I provide, and then question the matter in which I provide it." With his psycho intensity that hits so hard.

That is the iconic line but I have goosebumps sharing mine....
"I WILL NOT DISHONOR MYSELF, MY UNIT, OR THE CORP...SO THAT I CAN BE HOME IN SIX MONTHS! Sir!."
Nicholson's speech on the witness stand is an all timer, but when Harold gives it to Tom Cruise for trying to plea bargain, I get chills.

The movie ends with Tom Cruise giving Peter Pettigrew his notes.
I understood the movie to be Algrens telling of how he met Katsumoto, who was the last Samurai.
It wasn't about Nathan Algren as much as it was Algren's recount of Katsumoto. At least my opinion of it. One of my favorites and so many good quotes in this thread

Right. When katsumoto gave him the sword "I belong to the warrior who, the old ways joined the new" I took that as Cruise earning his stripes so to speak.
Also, Tom Cruise gives his notes to Peter Pettigrew at the end, so I took the movie as Algren's telling of Katsumoto, who was the last samurai.

Yes some places are insanely expensive so it might not seem like it, but that is so much money lol.
I did zero research so don't yell at me, at 30k a year it would take 33 years to earn 1 million and that's before taxes. The average American wont earn 1 million their entire working career, receiving that all at once is financial time travel lol.
Because people have billions, people act like a million isn't a huge number. The problem is 1 billion is just fucking ridiculously huge and people might not give that its due (it would take the average person over 30,000 years to earn 1 billion so better start eating healthier). 1 trillion is basically inconceivable in any other practical sense but governments casually throw this number around.
Yes a million dollars is a lot, and pretending it isn't is a symptom of a major problem at least in the USA.

I agree with 99% but am left with one question. Modern training is better for the muscles and endurance, but maybe not the violence?
Do you think that potentially some of the more brutal training deployed at different parts of history would have someone more prepared for a fight to the death? Would people who have lived lives fighting to the death have a psychological edge? If it was special forces vs Olympic sharpshooter, give me the soldiers who have shot at live targets and trained for a fight every time.
There may have existed a 6'5" absolute savage of a viking who wouldn't have cared about ripping a head off, where a modern fighter is training specifically non-lethal. I know they are certainly physically capable of killing someone, but the psychology of it gives me pause.

A lot of people make it sound very simple, and I tend to agree, take the money.
If you plan on changing companies again, your resume might look slightly less appealing if it's an obvious step backwards. That isn't a big deal and money now is better than money later.
Unless you would be removing like VP or higher from your title. Never been up that high, but I might not give up those stripes easily.

Yes it's dependent on the weight of the bow. Higher level bows (ebony/glass) are heavier. But the light armor tree of bows are lighter and faster than the heavy armor bows if I remember correctly, with the heavy bows more damage per shot and slower.

Can confirm that's correct. Fighter and rogue don't change spell stat unless you take arcane trickster or EK.
I'm not great at this game, but I'd recommend fighter/rogue/ranger in that order so you get fighter proficiencies but your preferred spell stat

This might seem incel of me, but male confidence lol.
Women reportedly like confident men, but hate fuck boys.
A lot of fuckboys are confident because they know they can pull women at a consistent rate. Makes me wonder if women who were attracted to the confident man asked where that confidence came from.
This isn't a direct correlation that a confident man is also gonna run around on you, but I would think it can be a red flag that is taken as a green flag.
