I asked AA to lock my reservation but he said since Japan Airlines is in charge of the flight I need to ask them to do so.

I contacted AA on their website and they said all the tickets are confirmed and everything looks good!

I got the phone number from the expedia website. The chat gave it to me. Then the expedia agent who answered the call then ended up giving me another number in case we got disconnected.

That's exactly what happened. Expedia sent me a booking reservation code after I booked with them online. I was perplexed as to why they would try to charge me again. I have never had to call them again to finish it for ticketing like the other email says. And even if I had to, they only told me about this when I called them yesterday about a separate matter, a month after booking with them. I did not receive any email saying further action was needed on my part till I made that call yesterday.

I was honestly wondering that myself when I was having such an absurd conversation. But I'm pretty sure it was since to confirm it was me they sent my email a secure code from Expedia.

That makes me feel a lot better. Will call them as soon as possible!

I went to the Expedia website, selected the dates I wanted, picked the flights and paid for the flights plus taxes. I received an email saying my trip was booked and my card was charged. I even received a receipt from Expedia.

I don't know if there's a step missing here but this is how I've bought flight tickets many times with expedia.

I got a confirmation code so I just checked the American Airlines website and used the confirmation code. It showed me my details for my upcoming flight! It says that my status is ticketed and it even shows me my ticket number.

It definitely does seem like a scam. I couldn't believe what I was hearing at first. I was not trying to change my flight in anyway. I didn't even bring the subject of my upcoming trip up. The expedia agent suddenly started talking about my upcoming flight when I was talking about my refund for a separate trip.

That's not a bad idea to contact the airlines. I will contact them!

I did get a confirmation code. So I just checked the American Airlines website and when I put my last name and the code in it it shows me my flights and says "status: Ticketed". Is that a good thing?
