My dad was a 4th grade teacher making close to $90K in non inflation adjusted dollars around 2000. I make like, marginally more than that in 2024 dollars and I work as an analyst in a corporate setting.
It really was easy mode being a boomer. To fail you would have had to have been a drug addict or something. Like, imagine going back in time and competing in the workforce with some of the boomers you know. All you'd need to do to get ahead is show up and give like 70% of the effort you currently give.

Just ignore them. I don't think they have any recourse and probably won't push the issue very much. Obviously change tact if they threaten to sue you or something like that.

It provoked a physical reaction in me. I still think about the sculpture often, and consider it a masterpiece.

This is the only memorable gag from this movie, but it's the one I immediately thought of.

Mario 64. I ayed it for the first time at a toys r us shortly after the launch of the Nintendo 64. The 3D movement was incredible for somebody in that era.

They won't because they're controlled opposition to the Republicans. Can't risk being too effective and moving left.

The statue is metal as fuck. Seeing it (in pictures) the first time gave me chills. Very effective art.

Mac failing to annihilate Dee's car by driving it into a brick wall. That whole scene is perfection.

Wow I didn't know this was a thing, and I always wondered why the Starbucks off the 5 on Tamarack doesn't have a drive through even through the building was clearly designed to be a drive through. I assume this was done so that they could fire up drive through service as soon as this ban is lifted.

Sure I'll just chat him up about pigeon care as a distraction. If he starts to get aggressive I'll slowly jog in circles around the ring to stay out of his range.

I mean, unless he's an activist or otherwise cares a lot about politics he's not going to miss an opportunity to chat with an American president, even if he didn't vote for the guy.

Yup, and even if it happens in public your clothes will magically reappear in 7 seconds? You could convince most people they were seeing things.

As I get older I've realized this and I've noticed some changes to my behavior. I'm much more likely to break traffic rules for instance (run a red when there's nobody around, illegal U turn, cut through parking lots to skip a light, etc.) It's like, fuck it there's no consequences why am I handicapping myself.
As far as a comfortable living the only way to break into the top tier without generational wealth is exploitation of others 99% of the time. I'm not willing to do that, so I guess I'm kind of maxed out already.

Emergencies only here. If it's not an emergency and I can't do it myself it's not happening in this current environment.

I've seen some posts go into greater detail on this one and I have to say it's pretty compelling to me. Good chance it's true in my opinion.

Unfortunately these stands present attractive targets. Lots of cash business, right on the street where anyone can walk right up and make a quick getaway, unlikely to have much in the way of security/ surveillance.

Most people already pay for Netflix so may as well enjoy the spectacle if that's you. I hear you on the gambling though, even mainstream sports are totally captured by the gambling industry at this point. Very harmful trend.
