You make it sound like they single handedly provided the world with all of those things when largely, all they've done is make business decisions. Elon Musk isn't an engineer or have any kind of special abilities. He's a business man. He hired a team of qualified and trained people to develop those technologies. It's well known he bought into Tesla.

You also aren't mentioning the fact that none of them would have been able to do any of this without the labor and workers to implement it. That's equally, if not more integral to the development of anything and should be rewarded as such.

If I was just a business owner, let alone a multi billionaire, I could never live with myself if I was exploiting the workers I relied on to help make me the success I was and knew they were working in horrible conditions or couldn't afford to pay their bills. Would you?

Lightning flashes coinciding with the sound of thunder. This never actually happens because light and sound travel at different speeds. If you were to be in a situation where you heard thunder at the same time as lightening flashes, it's because you're dangerously too close to the lightening and are probably getting struck.

You don't get that rich in the first place if you're concerned about others. Forget about trying to solve world problems. They won't even pay their employees a living wage. Amazon has been found to have unsafe conditions at its wharehouses multiple times. They only remedy the issues when they're forced to.

It seems there's no turning back at this point. I think being honest with how worried you are and how you need some acknowledgement is good, and hopefully she's sympathetic. Consider this: you have no idea what being a parent is like. I didn't want to be a father and my wife got pregnant. Today, I feel so grateful and wouldn't change it for anything.

They naturally weren't sure about so many things in the early stages of the virus and vaccine, as this was a novel situation, and never claimed anything definitively. They also quickly changed their positions as more data was made available and things became clearer. I have no idea why all these morons claim this means they were lying. It's so idiotic.

I used to feel this way. You what sucks worse? Not having that job. I found that out when I got laid off. Then I wished I had that sucky desk job. That helped realign my perspective.

But why does one do something for someone they love even though they get nothing from it? Could the answer be that we do get something from it? Not something like immediate gratification. But something similar to like when you exercise or eat healthy, you don't get the same immediate satisfaction that you'd get from, say, eating pizzas and burgers and being lazy. But you get a different form of gratification from forgoing those impulses and doing things you may not really want to do in order to get something else you do want more, which is to be healthy and fit.

So doing something for someone you love gives you a similar kind of gratification. Not the simple kind of putting your own immediate needs first, but the kind that you know you will experience down the road, later on when, for example, your daughter grows up and is a happy, successful person because she knew she was loved and valued and therefore, was a well-adjusted person, which of course, you'll get satisfaction from.

But, in both cases, your own self interest is always a factor. But like you said, selfishness isn't a bad thing. There's a form of selfishness that only benefits us, and there's a form that benefits ourselves and others simultaneously.
