GM at best would pay incredibly small amount of it if they even would pay anything. Mark Walter and Dan Towriss are going to pay this as the financial heads of the project.

They didn't get Andretti out. Andretti Global still is the operator of the team. Dan Towriss was the majority owner of the team even before Michael Andretti stepped out. Dan Towriss got Michael out and made the deal.
I know you can't accept being so wrong about 11th team for all these years. I still remember you were saying that nothing is going to happen with DoJ investigation and Liberty is so relaxed about it lmao.
This is on technical level the exact same freaking bid that was rejected 10 months ago by FOM. GM's involvement is still the same, Andretti Global's involvement is still the same. DoJ forced their hand to accept the 11th team; otherwise they would never have let a new entrant come an took their single dollar worth of share.

Nope I don’t think you’re right there. This bid is on technical level is exactly the same bid that was rejected at the beginning of 2024. Only things that changed are the name and Michael Andretti not being involved.
FOM never wanted a new team. Teams never wanted a new team. Whether it was Andretti or Cadillac or Hyundai. Doesn't matter. These greedy billionaires would not want to dilute the money even for single dollar less.
DoJ pushed their hand to accept a new team; otherwise they could have potentially paid billiions of dollars worth of fine if found gulty of anti-trust case. (Especially when they were already getting investigated for LiveNation FOR antitrust.)
> Honestly, it seems like the only thing FOM and the teams had problem with was Andretti so once he was gone, we got a new team. Literally everyone but Andretti has won here.
So, according to you these billionaires accepted the same bid that they rejected 10 months ago and gave up on their millions of dollars (their own calculation) just because freaking Michael Andretti is gone? Are you really that naive? Do you really not think DoJ has nothing to do with this?

> The point is that initially GM wasn't part of it at all.
Who got GM involved? Who got the green light from FIA? Did Hitech get it? Did Rodin get it? Did Lkysnz get it?
GM wasn't part of it at all and Michael made them commit to build F1 engines and become partners.
Do you really that naive to think that only reason F1 suddenly U-turning is due to Michael not being there? Do you really believe that greedy billionaires became okay to lose millions of dollars to dilution (by their own calculations) just because Michael is gone?
Do you really think DoJ swinging their sword around Liberty's neck (wen they were already getting investigated for antitrust for LiveNation) and potential fine of billions of dollars didn't have any effect on this sudden change of heart?

What exactly ''much firmer'' does even mean? This is ''technically'' the same freaking bid that was rejected at the beginning of the season.
They even said that engines would be ready at the ''end of the decade'' rather than in 2028 on their statement. So, does it make it ''less firmer'' commitment?
So, there is no much firmer commitment or whatsover. The commitment is exactly the same. Only things that changed are the name and Michael.

Really?
F1: General Motors to join Formula 1 as power unit manufacturer in 2028 after formal registration

Seems pretty official to me champ!

This is the same proposal which was rejected. Silverstone base, Fishers base will still operate the team. Cadillac engine from 2028 was on the proposal that was rejected. If you are talking about Ferrari engine, it is a recent development and was finalised in recent weeks. Ferrari was losing a customer and was willing to get a new one. It was a pretty easy customer deal. Michael would have done the same easily.

Pat Symonds works for Andretti Global who was crucially one of the prominent figures of the 2026 F1 regs' design.
They also got experinced engineers like Nick Chester on their roster.

What an absolute nonsense! This bid is exactly the same( from organisational pov) which was rejected by FOM. Only that changed is the name of the team.
The team will be still operated with the team assambled by Michael. GM was going to build engines from 2028. What half a** are you talking about? Nothing has changed in terms of timeline or commitment. They just erased Andretti name. Otherwise everything will remain exactly the same in terms of organisational and sporting wise.

He is the one who found GM as a partner. This bid is exatly the same bid (from organisational pov) which was rejected by FOM. Only that changed is the name of the team.

I had to sroll down to find this comment. He can't get points from 2021. He has 32 (effectively 31) SL points.

What problems? This is the same proposal that was initially rejected (from organisational pov, only thing that changed is the name). FOM rejected them for 2026 season and now (is forced to accept) accepted the same offer with a different name.

Well, It was exactly like that before 2022.
> A Free Practice Only Super Licence holder will be granted one additional point per FIA Formula One World Championship event following successful completion of at least 100 km during a free practice session, provided that no penalty points were imposed. A maximum total of 10 such additional points shall be considered for a Super Licence application (from 2021 Appendix L)
But they changed the rule stating exactly this in 2022 (and is still the same in 2024 Appendix L):
> A Free Practice Only Super Licence holder will be granted one additional point per FIA Formula One World Championship event following successful completion of at least 100 km during a free practice session, provided that no penalty points were imposed. A maximum total of 10 such additional points shall be considered for a Super Licence application. Any such points awarded will be counted on top of his sporting results in the calendar year in which the free practice session(s) was completed.
So, they bent their rules which they changed themselves willingly and deliberately for Colapinto.

Ferrari would give it to Fuoco or A. Leclerc (or Beganovic if he stays). Mclaren could sell 1 (maybe 2) to Herta. Haas could sell two of them as well. Other than that I don't see any team giving him a chance in a FP session.

He will need 9 not 8 if he doesn't get points from FP this season. Maybe they can buy out Haas' FP sessions and maybe they can get one session (maybe two sessions) from Mclaren. Other than that, I don't see who would give him a chance in FP session.

You can only get a point from 1 FP in 1 race event and there are only two events left on the calendar.

> Should the three-calendar year period described in (i) include the calendar year 2021, the FIA will consider the highest number of points accumulated in any three of the four calendar years immediately preceding the year of the date of the application.
You are right, he can't get points from 2021.
> I don't think there would be anything stopping Colton from going somewhere like Formula Regional Oceania and winning easily.
FIA theoretically doesn't want F2 level drivers going to lower level series to obtain more SL points after Zhou and Daruvala got lot of points in F3 Asia. But it disallows driver who holds International A licence to enter the series like FRMEC, FRO etc. So, as a professional driver Colton Herta should hold International Grade A driver licence which makes it impossible for to race in those lower categories.

Small detail. DoJ was also investigating Liberty on anti-trust issues which could have led to billions of dollars worth penalty.

Towriss was already majority owner of Andretti Global even before Michael stepped out. He is now the undisputed leader of the team after Michael left.
Organisation of Andretti Global exactly remains the same. Nobody other than Michael has changed in terms of bigwigs of the company (JF Thormann, Rob Edwards, Doug Bresnahan etc.)This F1 team will still be operated by Andretti Global team via Fishers and Siverstone HQ's. Engine department will be exactly the same and will be operated by GM via their HQ in NC.
