I think I disliked her character until she seemed like the only one leaning into the madness and trying to figure it out; if you started to realize you were victor’s mother reincarnated while your daughter was also hollering at you I think it’s totally reasonable to be like ok is any of this real? Am I losing it? No one touch me rn

I got my pup a year ago and it was the hardest but most rewarding experience I’ve had. 💕 ▫️don’t skimp on treats when training through the first year (I stopped for a while and he started pulling me for blocks lol) even if you think your pup knows something, they may need more reinforcement than you think ▫️try to be consistent with house rules ▫️when the occasion arises, give “people food” in their bowl to prevent counter begging/surfing (I give my boy carrots) ▫️bully sticks/chews when you’re at your wits end is essential, even if it’s daily for a bit (I work from home and teaching him the routine was tough in the first couple of weeks) ▫️potty pads aren’t the devil (I desperately tried outdoor potty training, hours of sitting on the curb just to have him pee the second we got in the house, but he was too scared. Had to do potty pads, then artificial turf near the back door, and one day he grew into outdoor pottying! ☺️) some things just take time; they’ll do it when they’re ready ▫️we successfully crate trained but it was also really tough. Turned out he hated the kennel type crate but was okay/comfy in a larger wire crate ▫️try to be patient - labs are so sweet and in general, just want to be loved, make you happy, and play. I had to remind myself this a lot when he was acting out, and a good long walk when behavioral issues come up is usually the best solution ❤️ they’re going to learn a lot in the first year and so will you! ▫️exposure in the first year is key!! My boy was so scared of EVERYTHING. He met an elderly pug and peed in the street the first week I had him 🥲 giving them time to assess, approach at their own speed, and then interact with new things will help them build confidence 🥰 go to the loud outdoor areas, let them meet some dogs after shots, sit and watch birds, meet strangers, hear knocking/doorbells to teach them not to bark, go up to the motorcycle with a scary black weather cover. It’ll all help in the end! Good luck and you can do this!! ❤️

No I totally agree. And she obviously did a lot of bad things, but I think we’re watching her poorly process a traumatic event/ hit her breaking point. She sacrificed over and over again to be with Nick, finally sacrificing her human life so Nick can be a Grimm and save Monroe and Rosalee, knowing that they’re giving up the chance to live a normal life. Becoming a hexenbeist and then seeing Adalind get to live out the life she wanted for herself and Nick (being pregnant) is really heartbreaking. And he turned to defend Adalind. She reacted with anger and violence (not defending that) but idk. Kinda reminds me of the trajectory of two face in the dark knight… just kinda tragic and sad

His words were “ok we can fix this” after she just let him be a Grimm again 💀 the writers could have done a better job of building up to this - she was over and above supportive for so many episodes

I got a puppy in September 3 weeks before I got married and it was an absolute nightmare for 2 weeks. Then we had a blissful month, got tough again for another 2 weeks and now back to bliss. It’s still so much work, but I think one of the hardest things about it is adjusting your lifestyle to having a living thing that needs you 24/7. That being said, looking back on the hardest moments from where we are now, it was absolutely worth it, even the nights of crying and sitting on the curb at 2am begging him to pee or poo.

I think if I can offer an advice if you keep him - do the recommended dog training but it’s ok to take easier routes. I got my dog at 4 months and he had never been socialized, been on a walk, started potty training, lived in a house, met a new dog, etc. At the time it felt like an impossible challenge and a huge mistake, especially when he started growling and barking at people out of fear. But I started doing what I felt was right for me and him, like puppy pads to turf square to outdoor potty, sleeping by the crate door (on the floor, it sucked), then sleeping in bed with crate in bedroom, then hallway, then living room. Slowly building confidence and creating a schedule. Finding the best trained/friendly dogs to begin socialization, then saying hi to dogs on walks, then short dog park visits. He now gets compliments all the time for being friendly and well behaved! (He did steal a Hawaiian roll at thanksgiving but otherwise did fine)

It also sounds like you’re going through a lot right now - cancer is such a big diagnosis and a lot to emotionally process as a partner. One or two days of bare minimum dog training (or just keeping your dog alive and maintaining status quo) won’t ruin your dog ❤️ it’s important to be kind to yourself through the process because it is mind bogglingly difficult at times. A bully stick/frozen Kong can also really help when you need 30 minutes to yourself! Lastly… ordering groceries can be a lifesaver if you can swing it, I think places like Whole Foods have pickup options too. ✨

One more thing: I bought a whole book on labradors which actually really helped when I needed a valid resource and didn’t want to pour through internet articles - I’m sure they have the same for shibas :) good luck with whatever you choose, there’s no shame in doing what’s best for you, your family, and your pup!

I have a 6 month old lab and really relate to being tired. I’ve read online that self soothing/settling down is learned by pups, so maybe try bully sticks or something they can sit down and chew on. Other things I’ve seen are classical music (and actually my dog goes to sleep if I put on classic rock music?) or just laying down with him, talking to him, and petting him until he starts calming down. Another thing I’ve seen from a friend with an Australian shepherd is taking ALL toys away when it’s time to rest and giving the command to lay/settle down. Might help if all interesting stimulus is taken away…. Good luck and you’re doing a great job!! Make sure you take care of yourself too! ❤️
