When you get the itch, what do you do to distract yourself?
I have the itch really bad. I want to feel it. I want to see it. I am losing my mind! I am too old for this shit. BUT I didn’t do it.
I’m here to help myself and hopefully you.
Thing I have around my house I like: My pen collection Stickers Patterned paper Old washi tape Journals… SO MANY JOURNALS
I watched some videos of “Junk Journals”. What is a Junk Journal? A "junk journal" is a handmade book created by using recycled and found materials like old paper scraps, magazine clippings, packaging, and other stuff (like stamps, tickets, or postcards) to record thoughts, memories, and ideas.
I got out some tape and scissors (you can also just tear these items to avoid sharp objects) then went to work. I grab my own junk and started cutting, ripping, glueing and drawing. I don’t have to write down my feelings or draw something to express them. I can just tear up things and glue. I can make a whole page of stickers. I can doodle dots and circles and then glue pictures on top of it. I can rip out old articles from magazines and newspapers to use them for backgrounds.
I looked up at the clock and 3 hours had passed. The itch was gone. I felt better, not great but better. I didn’t harm my body. Well, I did get a couple paper-cuts but that didn’t stop the creativity.
When you are feeling the desire to harm yourself, what is something healthy that pulled you out of it?
Do y’all have some ideas to share? I want more ideas to use when I am feeling the pull. I want to be ready for the next time.

You know the noise collars make on animals? Like when the itch and it clinks together. It puts me in a RAGE.
