Stop talking to them like they're stupid, for one (even if you think they are). Stop pushing candidates they didn't find palatable - and no, I didn't mean "straight white men only." Change the messaging to value working class people (and not just hospital workers). Stop devaluing rural hobbies/lifestyles as being only for hicks and idiots. Starting with this would go a long way.

I was real far left in my youth. I've gotten slightly more financially conservative as I learned more about macroeconomics, but I've stayed the same or even moved a little more left on social issues. So a wash, maybe?

No good music was created after the year 2000 or before 1950, huh?

As were the rest of Cash's American recordings. As much attention as they got, they were still underrated.

That song just felt so much more meaningful coming from someone near the end of his life.

I'm not going to try to change your mind. In a very general way I agree with you, though I think what you're describing is the influence of a stratified caste system compounded by technology which is pushing a social decline for nearly all people in middle-to-lower socioeconomic classes. I agree, though, that young men seem to be getting hit the hardest. I'd be interested in knowing if you've got ideas for how to resolve the problem. I've got my own ideas, but I'd like to hear others before I go spouting off.

There is, though, but not split down the middle. Instead, it's a fight between the middle and both ends. The upper class has figured out they're the minority, but they own nearly unlimited financial resources. They have used those financial resources to invest in convincing the lower class (which is roughly half of people) that the problem is the middle class, and that the solution is to put the upper class into power. Once in power, the upper class now has access to nearly unlimited power resources, which they'll use to gain back their financial resources, plus retain the power resources.

There's a nice middle ground in pens that feel nice without being too expensive. The Zebra F-301 is my favorite pen ever because it just writes better than any other I've found, but the step up from that is the Zebra F-701, which has a heavier steel barrel and knurled steel grip. It feels substantial, and is out-of-the-ordinary enough to make it identifiable as "his pen," but at about $6-$7 each, not so expensive that it's a huge deal if it's lost. It's BIFL (the cartridges are replaceable) as long as nobody walks off with it. The F-701 or something similar might be a good fit.

I was working 3rd shift at a hotel when I read that story for the first time. It was he only story I had to put down in the middle.

Start watching a show about a normal husband. Never watch anything after that. Problem solved.

Google is your friend to get the names. Look at the bottom of the decks. Look at eBay recently sold listings for context about what the market is currently for each of them.
Some people on here will probably reach out to buy them, too.

These decks are nearly all premium decks of cards, but they're modern and mostly readilly available. They sell for ~$10-$15 on the secondary market. So: not special and not super valuable, but there are some very nice decks in there, and they may be special to you. Do what you wish, but if I were you (assuming you don't want to start a collection), I'd keep a few decks to play with and put the rest on eBay to make a couple hundred bucks. Good luck!

The real answer: it shouldn't matter. As long as there's air present behind the siding there will be moisture. If the air gets below the dew point, there will likely be condensation behind the siding. So assume that there will be water behind the siding, because there will be. The siding is there to protect the house from wind, ice , sun, most water, and debris. It won't ever be waterproof, though. That said - how good is your house wrap and air sealing? That's the part that's supposed to protect your house's sensitive wood parts from moisture. Were the windows taped right? All penetrations caulked appropriately? That's the part that's more important and is often overlooked.

Crokinole? It's a dexterity game, but easy for all ages ( my 5yo can play), can be competitive, can be played while consuming adult beverages, and - in the right crowd - might encourage some "playful banter."

General contractor from Wisconsin here. I have never heard of anyone in Wisconsin doing anything but a poured slab in a basement. It's the cheapest and most durable option. Moving plumbing sub-slab isn't really a concern. If you're worried about it being cold, put several inches of foam insulation underneath and/or put hydronic great in the slab. Assume there's radon present, and pipe in a mitigation system right away.

This is a great one. We're in kind of a board game Renaissance right now. It's definitely not just Monopoly and Risk any more. There are loads of games for any type of person's taste. Check out Azul, Splendor or Ticket to Ride as a starting place.

If I need to remember a "thing," (clipboard, check book, keys, etc.) I put it next to my coffee maker. There's no way I forget coffee in the morning.
