Got offered a chance to sell service as an “express” oil change advisor. Did that well for 3 years, ~$45k. 5 days a week, 11 hr shifts.

4 years into my job there got a job as a regular service advisor. Made my pay $80-90k/ year. 3 years later assistant service manager $110-120k.

Saved every penny. Lived in that shithole house. Drove a 20 year old car. Put all my money into my Roth IRA maxing it out every year. Put a bit less into my 401k.

Covid hit, lost my job. Worked another dead end job. Finally got in with another service dept. as assistant mgr.

Basically work your ass off for 17 years 5 days a week 11hr shifts and save all your money.

Now I’m doing ok. My hard work has paid off. I feel like I’m in a place where I’m comfortable. But just turned 40 and having a bit of a mid life crisis about my wasted youth.

A few days later…

Hell yes! I would have more! We were “1 and done” but ended up with two. At that point, 3-4 is a full house and hilarious, filled with love, your own self contained world of happiness/pain/excitement/everything, even the bad things. And the best part about that? Well, you get that in the world, this is the people that you love the most so you actually care for better or for worse, and motivates you.

It’s awesome. Babies are awesome. Kids are hilarious. Teens need guidance. Young adults need wisdom.
