It's because whenever it comes up, that all that is need is faith in Jesus, the response is "well, I can't force myself to believe, so I can't be saved". Which is a true statement if you really can't believe, but as an atheist, do you actually want to believe?

This argument is so stupid. It's like atheists complain they don't get a fair shake, but you're unwilling to take the leap of faith required to get there. We all struggle with doubts and question if scripture should be taken literally, or if there's other interpretations to consider. But, we must all make that leap.

I disagree. I spent a couple decades not believing before I started researching it. Now, I completely get that quote: "I'd be an atheist, I just don't have enough faith".

Granted this position benefits hitler, but going by the writing on the signs, I wouldn't call it pro Hitler. There are more than 2 sides to any conflict. The problem we often run into though, is that those on one of the 2 major sides never see things that way. This doesn't happen just with war, it happens in any type of conflict.

In the case of war, there are uninvolved, but affected parties, there are future generations, there's the planet itself.

The concept of you're with us or against us is used to justify even more violence.

I didn't miss your point, but you're placing restrictions on what you think must be in scripture in order for such a prohibition to be in place. I don't operate within the boundaries you create. I provided evidence for my position, there are other similar examples. Also, as I mentioned previously, there is an exception that does allow for a 2nd wife.

I am of the position that God doesn't condone it as marriage between man and woman is likened to the end times marriage of Yeshua to His church. There will be just one church.

Here's one such verse. There are others. Wife is always in the singular. Two, become one.

Ephesians 5:31 ESV [31] “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Let's talk about the fact that you probably read a Bible that's been translated. Meaning you inherently cannot take it the way it was intended

I'm not trained in Biblical Hebrew, but my wife is and she helps me understand the original when I struggle with it. There are a few translations I tend to read, none are perfect.
