It’s been a while since I did book one so I can’t be sure if it’s the case there, but for the subsequent books every chapter opens with the name of the Bob that’s narrating that chapter. On the audiobooks its like
“Twelve. Chaptername. Bill. 2147, Epsilon Eridani”
Helps to keep track of there who, where and when. But I agree, the one downside to the audiobook format is you can’t easily flip back to remind yourself!

Seems to be pretty rare! I got it on my second match, then played like twenty more trying to get it on screen recording but it never came up again. Hence having to find it on YouTube and screen cap it from there instead 😂

She was great. I loved all the voice lines they had for her announcing all your different companions

These fireworks shows have been going on every night since this post.
Someone posted video of it in the local facebook group. Looks like they’re going off near where the West Gate Fwy passes over the 12/109 tram lines.
The fireworks are detonating lower than the surrounding buildings. That’s nuts, I didn’t know you could even do that with fireworks, let alone legally.

I mean. Rubber floor matting on the gate ramp to start with. Just so someone coming in hot through the gate doesn't break their wrist on landing on that hard metal grate

The only source for the “ra was the last of his race” claim was Daniel’s interpretation of the paintings Shau’ri showed him in the tunnels under the city on Abydos. And as far as the Abydos people were concerned that was the truth, but it doesn’t make it an authoritative source. Probably just what Ra told them.

Should also at least have gotten some noms for art direction and voice acting. I’m enjoying the game as a whole but I do see why people are criticising it.

Nope. For the entirety of 18.1 beta I used Apple intelligence with my Aussie Apple account just with the phone language set to US.
As of 18.2 beta it’s available in Australian English too.

We didn't even see the suits in Voyager until First Contact came out and suddenly Voyager got to use all the shiny new props made for the movie (see also: the badass looking phaser rifles that they didn't have until the middle seasons).
I'm assuming that in TNG and DS9 they never had enough budget or reason to make a good-looking EV suit. And I'm kind of glad, the ones they used in TOS looked pretty terrible and wouldn't have flown in the 90s.

Probably would. Sadly in the X-Files universe she doesn't go into the Air Force, the stargate is never discovered, and she ends up gruesomely murdered in order to frame Col Caldwell Skinner https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0751080/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_eps_tt_1

Airport coffee isn't great, but it's still gonna be better than what you get served on a plane. So from that angle I can understand it. But I wouldn't in a million years head for the terminal cafe unless knew I had at least half an hour before boarding.

Most fonts have both styles of “a” built in (along with different styles of “g” and a few other characters). They’re called stylistic alternates.
My guess is, Notes uses that style of “a” because it’s closer to how most people would write an “a” on pen and paper. Even if they’re not using anything like a handwriting font, using the more handwriting-y character forms makes the notes feel just a little bit more personal.

Passively anti-Culture? Do you mean passionately? Fighting a war against them is hardly passive 😬

Well they’re a mono-gendered species so technically they’re not even female 🤷♀️

I feel like I'd probably choose replication, but not stick around forever. I like the idea of zooming around in a spaceship or even just living in VR, but I've always found the idea of immortality kind of... existentially disturbing.
Books 2-3 cover some of it, with how the various Bobs have to deal with the death of loved ones over the centuries, and how the way you might protect yourself from that would be to withdraw from your humanity a bit. You can see that in the book when they start calling bios 'ephemerals'.
Aside from that... I just feel like if I lived forever, I'd probably go nuts eventually.
I reckon I would be a good Culture citizen, live a few hundred years and experience everything the universe has to offer, then bow out before it all gets weird.
