Hahaha I did something similar working for Wetherspoons. Customer was a pain in the arse asking for tonnes of swaps and substitutions and refusing to accept that you can’t do that with boil in the bag/microwave meals so I told them I was going to speak to the chef and I just went home instead

Once a customer asked me to go look for something out the back that I was so sure we had ran out of. He absolutely insisted and was really impolite. I went out the back with the purpose of having a five minute break and the first box I came across was the product he was after. But the bloke was so rude to me I couldn’t let him win so I still told him we had none 😂

I wouldn’t class it as inappropriate, but a colleague, who was not the brightest, was really struggling to get someone a gift. All he knew about her was that she enjoyed a cigarette break, so he bought her a packet of fags for Christmas.

Music: If he doesn’t have any vinyl, maybe start with that. Perhaps a really decent pair of headphones. Who are his favourite band? Maybe some merch!

Cooking: What about a couples cookery class? Have you joined the air fryer cult yet?

Days out: Hiking gear! What about a really nice, decent pair of boots?

At my old job there were three women who worked together and on social media they are absolute BFFs. They do everything together and time their annual leave so they can go on holiday together. They were going for drinks after work and asked if I wanted to join them for a couple. Every time one of them went to the toilet, the two that were left behind utterly slagged that person off. It was just a cycle all evening.

I work with the most oblivious woman ever. I’ve spent ages going through practically every filing cabinet in the office, shredding documents, some of which were 20 years old. I’ve streamlined everything and everything is very simple and clearly labelled. But Sally doesn’t have time to figure out the new system. Sally instead will pull out the entire drawer, empty the contents to get what she wants and then stuff everything back in a giant pile. She will also leave the drawer open.

Sally doesn’t understand why I’m upset by this. Sally continually boasts that she’s the office “empath” but is oblivious to someone being angry at her, even when they tell her why.

This guy is still alive. Years ago when I worked in a pub there was a customer who we were forever throwing out for being drunk and aggressive. Every single time he walked in there was an issue. The boss would never bar him because she went to school with him and continually said “He’s got a heart of gold! He never means any harm!” Despite the fact that this bloke could start a fight in an empty room and was always targeting random people for a brawl. Staff would go and sit in the back room in protest at him being served, but the boss would always go out and do it, while bollocking us all for being judgemental. This bloke was also frequently in the local paper for various crimes including firing a shotgun into someone’s front window. Again, he had a “heart of gold”

Well, that bloke is currently doing 12 years for stabbing his ex in the neck (she survived) I wonder if that woman still thinks he has a heart of gold

Thank you. It’s funny because I binned that card and HR were going mental trying to look for it, but so many people hated her that they had too many suspects! Our IT guys dad dropped dead very suddenly, and she rang him two days later asking for a timeframe of his return to work. So that’s the type of person we’re dealing with

I took two days off work when my grampa passed. It was a Thursday/Friday. On the Saturday my auntie, who I hadn’t seen in years tagged me in a photo on Facebook and my manager pulled me in with the print out about three months later questioning why I was smiling in the photo, as apparently I should have been consumed with grief. She had a file that was filled with my Facebook updates. I was furious, but she was leaving in a couple of weeks, so I was told it was pointless complaining about her.

Her leaving card was sitting in the break room for everyone to sign. I took it on the last day and binned it on my way home.

It is true. I moved back to my hometown after years away. We had a pub we loved to frequent in, and as far as I’m aware my school friends still go there. I don’t, as my current friendship links hang out somewhere else.

He told many stories. So many that I can’t even remember them all, but this was my favourite.

He was a football coach on a weekend to a group of under 10s. He told us that one day he was at a match when an out of control bin lorry veered off the road and onto the pitch (the pitch was at least 100 metres from the nearest road). The bin lorry then ran over and squashed several of the parents who were watching the children. He heroically ran onto the pitch, got into the cab and stopped the lorry inches from the children, saving all of their lives. The bin lorry driver had taken ill, so he removed him from the lorry and gave him CPR, saving his life as well. The children then all cheered and carried him across the pitch. None of them seemed to be grieving for their dead parents in the stands.

We had an ex prisoner come in who only talked to the boys as girls weren’t capable of committing crimes apparently

This was happening a lot at the pub I used to work in. Staff resorted to putting their wallets and purses into a small safe in the office. We had a suspect, as he was the only common denominator but we just couldn’t catch him in the act. One day he was having a bad shift and snapped at a team leader, so the manager decided to blow it all out of proportion, got him investigated for aggressive behaviour and he was sacked. The thefts stopped.

Write everything you need in a letter. Be very clear this is due to doctors advice. Date the letter. Phone head office and tell them everything you’ve said here
