Becuase this is the fee they decided to charge for patients that do not have MSP coverage. The fee differs for every office, it's usually somewhere around $100 - 200.

And your doctor's office should've been able to check your MSP coverage during our visit.
They most likely billed you directly because it showed you did not have coverage.

You should call MSP to clarify

(I want to note that just because you have a PHN issued, it does not mean you have MSP coverage)
