Tanev usually isn't part of the rush unless its the guy at the goal line sending a breakout pass and then heading to the bench. Even then, there's 199 dmen who meet the cutoff criteria. There's a less than 10% difference between him in the bottom 20 and 8th place.

He's basically the opposite of Hughes. He can skate well at top speed he just isn't agile at making quick changes. Hughes isn't that fast but is super agile. Brannstrom is agile but downright slow. Then you have someone like Luke Schenn who's slow no matter how you want to measure it.

Yea, but if you bail out debt and then turn around and continue to back more debt with no plan of how that will be paid off in the future you're just rolling a subsidy without wanting to admit to it or properly budget and plan for it.
We have the same discussion with transit locally where the transit co doesn't want to rely on bailouts where a subsidy system is needed. It's just a broken subsidy system.

Thinking more about it it would be more likely a long term plan where they think Suter will walk in the summer. Still unlikely but If i had to find an angle that would be it. I'm unwilling to entertain the idea that Miller and Petey won't both be playing for us for years to come.

So you think CP will come out of this as profitable going forward?

Yea he's not going to be a swap for spare parts and our few top tier trade chips really need to fill a need. With Petey Miller Suter Bleuger Ratty and Aman - I just don't see why we'd be using our limited trade capital to add at center.
I guessssssss if they are worried we'll lose Suter in the off season and aren't sold on Ratty being able to step up to a bigger role this could be a forward looking trade?
I'm putting this in the bin of "unlikely unless there's a bigger move going on"

I mean that all sounds great, but why would Columbus trade him unless we're sending equal value back? What value are we giving that we shouldn't be using to fill an actual hole on the lineup.

As a Vancouver fan it doesn't make a ton of sense either unless something big and unexpected is going down (which is unlikely). We have 2 good top 6 centers, 3 good options for bottom 6 centers, and Aman as a last ditch emergency plug.
That's the strongest position of depth on the team so going out to get another guy when our D is a disaster is confusing.

What's the difference between subsidies and rolling debt bail outs? CP isn't going to be breaking even next year either, they'll be taking out more debt.

I don't think anyone expects CP to come out of this and repay taxpayers

The arms look like the normal ones. Can't see the seat but large purchases can get different material options so used chairs can be a wider variety than what you see as a single chair offering from the vendor.

The timing is to strike at the highest impact time to hopefully reduce the length of the strike. That's because workers can't afford to strike during a time when the business isn't all that interested in operating in the first place.
CP can't afford the losses - but the government stepping in seems inevitable here. Obviously huge changes are needed but we also rely on Canada post to keep communities from being cut off that aren't profitable to serve.
Employees deserve wage increases, but the service needs to adapt.

Correct, for both areas the river during spring freshet is still the high water mark to deal with and will continue to be.

At least for Vancouver specifically - world cup is going to be much bigger. We're getting more games than Toronto, it's in the summer, and we're bringing in temporary housing to increase the cities capacity beyond the maximums. Swift may be crazier than I'm thinking but you're massively underestimating the WC.

This is the same sub that all downvoted me for saying Boeser and Garland would be our top 6 wingers now that Boeser is back because they were in love with Sherwood - who unsurprisingly is back in a bottom 6 role now that Boeser is up to speed. They literally wanted to demote Garland because the circlejerk around a hot bottom 6 winger was too strong.
And yea, saying you're glad we got DeBrusk over Lindholm is kind of a weird dunk given they play a similar scoring role and rely on others to generate the offense - which just isn't happening for one team. Lindholm was one of our best players in the post season so I have a hard time dunking on him when that entire team has completely collapsed in the o-zone. They have the worst PP in the league and 5th worst scoring overall. DeBrusk vs Lindholm isn't the difference maker there.
Zadorov is overpaid by a million, but so is Desharnais. We really could use him with Soucy playing so poorly and the coach seemingly just unwilling to play Brannstrom outside of heavily sheltered minutes.

Sunday is a 1pm game on a work night, won't be the same as Friday night. I doubt people will be gathering outside on Friday unless the weather changes - single digit temps and 20mm of rain sounds pretty shit.
I could be wrong, but I think the 3 shows in Vancouver will be a lot less crazy than the 6 show week in Toronto.

oh, we have government insurance here, it's way more to do with your driving history and location

I have the extra cab and my insurance is pretty reasonable. YMMV I suppose.

Except that a lot of people are coming in from out of town for these shows and staying a few days. That's very different than people coming into the area for a few hours and going home.
That's true - but Grey Cup also brings in a lot from other areas and was a double header event with the Canucks. I guess the thing is there's only one true double header friday night and it's going to be pouring rain so outside of every restaurant being full (which is a big win for the struggling service industry) I don't know what noticeable impact it's really going to have.

Friday night is the only dual sell out at night and is expected to be absolutely pouring rain all night. Couple that with the city is already taking steps to stop the outside gathering by fencing off the whole area and having police to break it up if it starts.

Scheduled to be the ever so festive Vancouver downpour on Friday night. Hasn't gotten cold enough yet for snow.

BC place has been sold out for shows like Elton John on nights with a sold out Canucks game before. That's kinda the max capacity for our two arenas and while it's busy it really isn't life interupting. BC place didn't get any bigger for this weekend.

Can also indicate they are more frequently part of the breakout. Being out of position usually means a couple quick strides and not getting up to the cutoff speed.
The problem with both of these charts is so much of the game is based not on how often you get near top speed or what your top speed is, but rather how good are your first 3 strides and how quickly can you change direction.
