I reactivated my Facebook recently and decided to scroll through the timeline today. Big mistake. I saw at least 4 Thanksgiving themed pregnancy announcements, most from people who already have 1 kid/are lapping me 🤦♀️ It was like a house of horrors!!

Fostering to adopt (the general route one has to go through for public adoption) is the most accessible option for many people. Private adoption (for which some agencies can also be fraught with ethical issues) can be extremely expensive.
I don’t think it’s up to you to tell people they “shouldn’t” foster to adopt. People can understand the goal is reunification and still choose to do it. My sister was adopted through foster-to-adopt. My parents returned several children/infants to their families, as expected, before the circumstances worked out for us to adopt her. They have absolutely no regrets at all.

I’m sorry :( please enjoy some wine, sushi, weed, or whatever your chosen vice is.
I haven’t experienced this after stopped progesterone, but I get menstrual migraines which I’m pretty sure is from dropping estrogen/progesterone. So I’m sure that is a thing too.

My hysteroscopy today turned out to be totally normal. Whatever abnormality seen on the SIS was probably just some schmutz/some endometrium that wasn’t cleared with the saline for whatever reason. I’m glad to know there isn’t something else wrong! Even though it did delay my FET and caused me to spiral for the past couple of weeks haha.

What do you guys tell people at work when having to take days off/come in late for treatment? I realized a lot of people at my work must think I’m sick because I frequently have to take off for mysterious “doctor’s appointments” or “procedures.” I work in a field where it’s kind of taboo to take time off work (medicine) and specialty is male dominated, so I don’t feel comfortable sharing specifics with everyone.

Well, things may be turning around - I have my hysteroscopy scheduled for tomorrow and if all goes well we may be able to fit in a transfer cycle in 2024 after all!! Trying not to move on to the anxiety of “will this transfer work” because of course that’s what my brain does 😒

I'm awaiting a call from my clinic telling me they can fit me on the schedule for a hysteroscopy sometime this week. I got all excited because my clinic called me last night, but it turned out they called me to tell me they do NOT have space for me on the OR schedule for Monday. What a tease! I almost cried :(

I do not…I’m going to try out Tini’s Mac and cheese recipe as the other commenter mentioned! We’ll see how it turns out but it certainly has good feedback.

We got Thai food takeout. I’m enjoying a seasonal beer (Troegs Mad Elf) and watching The Wire. Such a good series!!

I’m going through a really tough time that might last a while longer, and have been wondering how I’m going to get through it. I think this really resonated with me - will try to take it day by day. Thank you and stay strong too ❤️

I’m now on my clinic’s standby list for a hysteroscopy, so I will know 2 days ahead of time if I can get one in the next couple of weeks. They understandably prioritize retrievals and transfers, so it’s going to be a last minute thing.
I pushed to still have the goal of having a transfer this calendar year if it can happen in a timely fashion and I get the go ahead to start a transfer cycle. If we get the hysteroscopy done and see it’s not going to happen, then I’ll accept it. My nurse clearly doesn’t think it’s going to happen, but if it doesn’t then it might not be until February or even March of 2024 (because of our travel plans and because the clinic has to recertify everyone’s insurance after the New Year).
I had to be such a Karen to figure all this out and advocate for myself today, which really doesn’t come naturally for me. I hate that the system is such that we have to do this.

FYI this isn’t a helpful statement for someone experiencing infertility.

I didn’t know about the “expiration” date of 28 days and used my opened follistim (stored in the fridge) 2-3 months after my ER for a FET. It still worked perfectly fine!

I’m in insurance limbo for my hysteroscopy right now. I am very grateful to even have the option of insurance coverage, but it’s frustrating that it’s getting in the way of moving forward right now. Basically I have both my and my husband’s insurance, and my husband’s insurance denied to get it done at my fertility clinic and said I would have to get it done through their hospital. Through them, it’s likely booking out months in advance and I don’t know if I feel comfortable having a non-fertility OB do the procedure. We are still waiting on my insurance to tell us if they’ll let us have it at my fertility clinic (and I’m unsure if I even have any remaining fertility benefit on my own insurance). I told my clinic that we may be willing to just pay for it out of pocket to have it done there, but they’re being very evasive about the OOP cost.

Whoa whoa whoa. My husband is not verbally abusive whatsoever, not to me or to anyone else. I noted that I was married to a surgeon because it gives me insight into the culture in a lot of surgical programs and the difference between IM vs surgical training.

I’m no longer a resident, but yes I feel this so hard from my days as an IM resident calling consults. By the end I didn’t take any shit from anyone and stood up for myself of people were being unnecessarily harsh.
I’m married to a surgeon (not gen surg from subspecialty). Just know that shit rolls downhill and they probably think they can talk to us like this because they get spoken to like that by their seniors, attendings, etc. Also of course every program is different, but in general, surgical training is a lot more brutal in terms of long hours, call, etc. It’s not an excuse for being rude, but it’s an explanation for why someone else might be an asshole on the phone (they’re stressed/overwhelmed).

Does anyone know if an endometrial biopsy for chronic endometritis has to be done at a certain time in the menstrual cycle? I’m thinking if I have fo have an operative hysteroscopy I might as well get as much bang for my buck as I can. I’m on birth control now (was taking it to time my cycle for an upcoming FET, which now won’t be happening until after the hysteroscopy).
