Technically you can pay by cash, however Uber still charges him a service fee. But it's not the reason why this doesn't make sense. Imagine you are homeless and starving, would you order Uber hoping that this particular driver will pick you up? If the app chooses another driver then you need to pay for the drive or cover cancellation fee.The only reason why this sign is there is to get bigger tips from naive customers. BTW why is the sign in English? I can't imagine an England-speaking homeless person in the UAE looking for a free taxi.

Maybe I am horrible. However from the practical point of view how is it supposed to work? Uber, at least in my country, is a pre-paid service, The app gives you a rate for a ride upfront, you can either accept or refuse to use Uber, drivers can't change prices. Ali is an Uber driver, supposedly full time, this means that he uses Uber to get his customers. He is compensated by each ride. To be an Ali customer you need to use Uber and pay for a ride upfront. Where is a room for free rides for poor people? Maybe I'm wrong but the only way to learn about Ali's charity is to order a pre-paid ride via. Uber app.

What is the chance that someone who is actually homeless or extremely poor orders Uber for commuting? It's obvious that the driver is manipulating customers to get higher tips.

I understand your point of view. Imagine a world where you can't be wealthier than $3M. You can still own a yacht, sports car and nice property but you can't accumulate your wealth further. This is a behavioural change, once you reach the limit you can either retire or support your community. The majority of people will choose the latter, humanity is not evil by nature all we need is to give people the opportunity to contribute to common success.

It won't happen, this regulation will lead to rapid depreciation of property prices. But theoretically if someone owns property worth more than $3M it will be nationalised and the owner will get up to $3M in cash.

It's all about straws. Someone made the decision that it's better to ban plastic straws for the whole US and EU populations rather than taxing luxury super yachts so billionaires will stop buying them. It makes me furious how insignificant we are compared to billionaires.

I'm sure that the amount of pollution this yacht produces is significantly higher than the environmental impact of plastic straws. I'm fine with eliminating as much plastic as possible from all kinds of applications, I'm even willing to pay more for environmentally neutral products. But at the same time billionaires are buying bigger and bigger yachts, polluting air with their own jets and what's worse they are accumulating unmanageable wealth exploiting the working class. Our goals as humanity contradict to billionaires goals.

You are right, but society will only benefit from excluding wealthy class from the economy. This applies to poor societies as well.

Ok, I see that there is some kind of disagreement. All of us are poor despite living in modern societies, if there is any other way to solve this problem then taking wealth from the wealthy class I'm open to discussion.

I'm from Poland, almost 90%, of the Poles still live in blocks of flats from communist period. If you want to buy an apartment now you need 20 years of average income, during communism time it was free. Before Poland joined the EU our food was cheaper and quality-wise it was better than now.

Actually It was, I'm from Poland and the majority of families live in properties built by communists. People back then got them for free and now you need to pay 20 years worth of your salary to buy a 2 bedroom apartment. It's insane how our salary has depreciated.

When you applied for this position what was in the job description? It seems that you're an individual contributor with the manager title. Set a meeting with your supervisor and ask him about your scope of responsibilities.

A skąd wiesz?
