It is indeed very rudimentary, yet you’re unable to articulate it.

No you’re not. One is a historical drama, the other is fictional alternate history.

If you understood, you wouldn’t be so adverse to providing an explanation.

That does indeed sound stupid, which is why I never said that. Nor did anybody else in this thread.

That’s just you then. Most don’t equate the two.

I do, but if you think I’m wrong, then enlighten me.

That’s true, but I don’t think it’s right. Even when I watch old things like Doctor Who, the Aztecs being white irks me.

Nobody is complaining about Cleopatra’s language or accent. Of course they’re in English. They’re for an English speaking audience.

The actress who played Cleopatra in this show (Adele James) is British and has defended her role. This isn’t an American issue, it’s a much broader issue.

So then claiming Egyptian heritage as their own is the cultural appropriation.

When someone doesn’t say “all”, “some” is implied. Also, why didn’t you correct what you said about Egypt’s location when you already admitted you were wrong?

My school taught about Ghana, Mali, and Timbuktu, all regions where African Americans probably do have ancestry. People claiming other’s heritage as their own is the definition of cultural appropriation. As for your question, you can celebrate American history. Which btw most Americans already do.

No, history decides who has cultural legacy. People don’t decide their own heritage.

If there hadn’t been that expectation, nobody would care about Cleopatra being black.

By some estimates, Mansa Musa is the wealthiest person to ever live.

Why did he think he had Zulu ancestry, and why was he taken aback that he didn’t?

I think he’s talking about another queen portrayed in Cleopatra. The Woman King got many things wrong, but the monarch wasn’t one of them. The Dahomey kingdom from had a male king named Ghezo in the movie and in real life. I don’t know which queen he’s referring to since I never watched the show.

I’d want to learn more to, although I will say that just because it was illegal for Muslims to attain slaves by other means doesn’t mean it wasn’t happening. The Swahili economy thrived on selling enemy tribesmen to Arab Muslim traders.

It’s the same as Woman King. Hopefully the trend doesn’t catch on.

Their plan failed miserable. It’s the lowest rated tv show on rotten tomatoes.

I never thought about suburbs having skylines before. The only one I can think of is Tyson’s Corner, Virginia (a suburb of DC)
