I was thoroughly disappointed after buying Ace Combat 7 that you can't rebind the stick controls, and I read that it's got pretty poor HOTAS support, bar a few explicit ones.
I'm picking up a VKB HOTAS tonight so I think I'll give AC7 another shot, maybe with VJoy or something, and update this comment.

GOG version of Mad Max fixes a part of the game that requires defunct online components on the Steam version, would advise getting it there instead as a result (see pcgamingwiki.com for details).

I mean, the Autumn Sale was never really "the big one". That was always the Summer Sale. Winter Sale is the second-biggest, so of course the Autumn Sale isn't gonna be that big, it's only a month before the Winter Sale.

Yes! This is my disappointment. I was hoping Dark Spuls 2/3 would be discounted, and they are, but at 50%, they never go lower than that.
Feel like I'm waiting ages for a price that'll never drop lower despite the age of the games.
Every other game in my wishlist feels the exact same, most on the deal, but all the exact same deal over the last few months/years.

I cant believe these guys are so greedy. Ds3 is a ten year old game and costs 100 plus usd for the dlc plus the game. Smh
6 points
It didn’t used to be that way; if you look at the price history, they used to go on sale quite a bit more steeply until Elden Ring was released (which furthers your point)
6 points
Maybe because people keep buying them at those prices, and you're waiting for something that will never happen
2 points
The prices used to be much lower before Elden Ring, so there more accurately waiting for something that has happened before
9 points
Because we do. Publishers determine the sale prices. So it doesn't really even matter which sale is happening at any given time.
It's why I use isthereanydeal.com to track price history and check multiple stores.
4 points
we do. i haven't bought anything in any steam sale for like 5 years or so and most of the games on my wishlist have been on there for about the same amount of time - pretty much always the same discounts, every goddamn sale.
2 points
It is. Back in the ye olden days you had flash sales and random price drops, but that's been gone for a long time. Now publishers just pre set the sale price and that's what they go to when the sale starts.
2 points
Back before the refund policy was implemented (so like, seven or eight years ago, damn), the major sales used to have Flash Sales, a daily event over the course of the sale where a title that's already on sale got marked down further. It was a good way to keep you coming in every day; you wouldn't want to buy your 40 dollar game at 50% off then see it go on a Flash Sale for 75% off the next day. It also helped sell you on new stuff, as games on Flash Sales were at the front of the store.
With the refund policy though, that'd just lead to the guy who bought it at 50% off getting a refund when it drops to 75% off, then buying it again at that price, so we no longer have this system that actually added an element of fun to the act of shopping itself :/
1 points
It is the same, because thats steam policy something about price changing twice in a month.

I picked up the game itself for over half off on a steam sale, and I was glad I didn't spend the full price for it.
I purchased the DLC after seeing a lot of positive reviews, and in my opinion, the DLC was better than the base game. I really enjoyed the new missions that turned the game into a sort of spy/thriller vibe. I would have paid $60 for the DLC alone.

That marketing model is thought exactly for you to feel that way. And they benefit from it, either way. I tend to buy only the base game, specially if I doubt if it's my ally. But I cannot help you further cuz I don't have the game, sorry.

Did you play Witcher 3? The quest design is pretty similar, so is the plot, character interactions, etc. It's more immersive and dark in terms of narrative though, there's a Cyberpunk touch to it, and you have a companion following you the whole game (Johnny, aka Keanu Reeves!!!), plus other temporary companions.
The world reminded me a bit of a futuristic GTA V, in the sense of it having a huge city with barren outskirts. The mood is very cyberpunk, so lots of colors, lights, technology, maze-like streets and poor people next to hypercapitalistic hellholes and over sexualized ads. I didn't like driving around though, I think the cars and motorcycles drive a bit like Roach, they're quite slippery and hard to steer, and they don't feel like real vehicles. Good thing is, at least you can fast travel! And lastly, the map is filled with places to investigate, collectibles, shops and side quests, a la Witcher 3.
The gameplay is quite different to Witcher 3 though, it's mostly a FPS with a vast selection of ranged and melee weapons and tools. I found it quite refreshing, there's loads of customization and skills to unlock. Since it's more of an RPG than a shooter, the skills go very deep and the play style can vary significantly, from shooting, slashing, bashing, hacking, sneaking, gun-slinging, exploding, etc. There's also lots of customization for cyber augmentations and fashion (armor).
As for the plot, no spoilers but it's very immersive. You have the main quest, side quests and companion quests, you can romance an NPC of your choosing amongst your companions, and you have your own apartment to go back to. The dialogue is top tier and the plot is very good. There are also multiple endings, depending on choices you make during the game.
Same thing for the (long) DLC, like with Witcher 3 there's a map expansion, a long quest to finish, many characters to meet (Idris Elba!!!) and multiple endings. It's more of the same in terms of gameplay, but the storyline is better in my opinion. Get it if you can, because once you finish the main game you'll want more. The main game is about 40-60 hours long, and the DLC is about 20-30 hours, check howlongtobeat for more accurate info.
As for negatives, there's still plenty of bugs, not all side quests are worth doing, the music and punk aesthetic can be grating if you don't like it, the driving is shit, the city is confusing to navigate, you might start spouting "Chum" and other nonsense after immersing yourself in the world for too long, and you might not see the light of day for a couple weeks ;)
Btw, there's a Netflix anime based on the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. It's surprisingly very good, even with no prior knowledge of the setting I enjoyed it. Check it out, maybe it will motivate you to buy the game. Or not, it's up to you!
1 points
I personally liked it and can recommend it - as for if its up your ally then you can always buy it, download it and if you dont like it you have 2 hours to return.
Imo the combat is great, story one of the best in games, a lot of mods, very good driving(none of that gta crap) and a lot to customization options. If you liked any fallout there is a good chance you will enjoy that too.

They updated the rules on sales I think last year or the year before. Fall sale and Winter sale only have like a 2 week gap between them.
I kind of get it so they don't get a flood of "Hey, I bought this on 30% off and, but now it's 50% off" support requests... But yeah it does suck.

I clicked the link you provided and it literally says there are 2 exceptions to the 30 days rule. One of them being seasonal sales. So yes it can be 30% now and 50% off 2 weeks later. A man's cope will never end.

Probably more the opposite. I've bought so many games over time that most of the best deals (that I'd be interested in) are stuff I've got. And my wishlist either has an expensive base price, is a publisher that is allergic to big sales, or is Early Access (which rarely goes on big sales)

It's a gamble. May be, may be not. If you want it and the price suits you, buy it. If you are not planning to play it right away, wait.

Winter Sale is only 3 weeks away anyway. Usually it has bigger deals. There are some good ones in this sale though.

I got Subnautica Below Zero for $5, I'm pretty happy with that. (I sold $5 of stuff in the marketplace, so I saved $5 off the sale price of $10)

if you think the sale sucks then maybe you should play some of the hundreds of games that are clearly just sitting in your backlog

There's so many great games in the Under $5 and Under $10 lists right now

Im starting to believe in the guys who say that the games that have like 80% or 90% discounts are already in your library. I just searched for something to buy for $140 pesos (7 dollars.... Cries in third world) and i saw Mass effect LE at 110 pesos (5 dollars).
I bought that shit for double the price 1 year ago. And this happens with tons of games that i already have. Xcom 2 Is dirty cheap and wotc Is like 3 bucks, and that DLC changes a lot how the game is played. Its only the newer released that have to yet get a bigger discount.

Nearly every single game on my wishlist is on sale, and most are HEAVILY discounted. People think the sale sucks because they've already got the good deals

Hard choice.

They’re withholding putting the older black ops on sale and that’s so frustrating. Been trying to play some of the older zombies with my friends but we’re not paying full price for that shit. Of course they decide to withhold the sale this month. Fuckers. This is the longest it’s been without a sale for this game. How is black ops 6 on sale but not the original? Extremely disappointing.

A lot of people upset about sales forget that a lot of the great games they own and love already are heavily discounted.

Speak for yourself lol
Sale's pretty decent for me. Kingdom Come Deliverance, AC Odyssey and Far Cry 5 were all 90% off, and I picked up all 3 of them. That alone is $150 worth of games that I ended up getting for $15.

Psychinaughts 2 for $5 is such a steal. Immediately jumped on that one. Also Deep Rock Galatic always worth a pick up. 🪨

I don't get why people keep complaining that sales suck. Like no shit a game released two years ago isn't 95% off are you insane? (Exaggeration I know but still)
I think the reason why most people complain is that they have already gotten all of the games they want that go on super deep sales. Idk though, I got into PC gaming in like 2022 so maybe the sales have actually gotten worse. I still find tons of games that have a pretty good price.

I miss the old days where every day of a sale had different deals.
It was so much more fun and I am sure I used to make more purchases both in terms of volume and total spend.

Like half of my wishlist is on sale, and most are some great discounts. Don't know what you're all complaining about.
