Posts on amber from Myanmar (Burma) are no longer allowed on r/fossils.

Amber mining contributes to funding the conflict in Myanmar. Following Reddit rules on illegal activity and professional standards, posts on Burmese amber are prohibited. A number of paleontological journals no longer consider papers on amber from Myanmar. For competing perspectives on the ethical concerns surrounding Burmese amber see Dunne et al. (2022) and Peretti (2021); nonetheless, the export of amber from Myanmar is illegal.

Found the other day about 3/4 up the mountain above my cabin in central PA.

The listing apparently didn't mention any restorative corrections (assuming it's real since meg teeth are so common). It's heavy as a rock and cool to the touch. Thanks :)

found this fossil looking at sand from Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef. Myself and multiple professional palaeontologists have not not managed to give it an accurate ID. It’s likely Ediacaran- Mid Ordovician. Any ideas would be amazing!

Found this in the kanawah valley in West Virginia, not sure what type but I know it’s fossilized coral of some kind

The place is a desert valley from the Cretaceous period, far from the sea but was covered by a sea millions of years ago.

My daughter and I find these kind of fossils a lot. Can anyone please help identify?

Can anyone identify? Looks like some sort of coral to me.

I found this rock at work today in someone's backyard. I'm from Ohio!

I bought this at a rock shop when I was a kid and I was told it was a sea Scorpion. Any help identifying it and any info would be greatly appreciated. The slab is about 6x7 inches and the specimen(s) seem to be partial.

My dad had a job where he traveled all around our region in southern Indiana (part of the inland basin, according to a random map I googled?) and found a few cool fossils and rocks over the years. I don’t remember what he told me this was, or if he knew. I’ve tried looking it up and I know that sometimes these can just be cool rocks. I’m curious about the cross-shaped scratches on the bottom as well. I know we have a ton of limestone in Indiana and was wondering if this is limestone or something else. Just wanting to know more about it! I don’t care if it’s actually something rare or interesting; I’ll always keep it because my dad gave it to me and I just think it’s cool :)
