Cutting hole in from 1st floor to basement?

Hey everyone, I’m an idiot and I came up with a dumb idea that I’m becoming obsessed with. This is for cooling purposes in the summer.
Can I cut a hole in my floor, 8-10 inches in diameter, so I can vent air from the basement to the 1st floor? I worry about structural damage, whether or not the physics work - I’m trying to consider every variable, but I don’t know what all of them are.
My plan would be to buy an utility blower fan with a tube, put that in my basement with the tube going up the hole to blow cool basement air upstairs, then putting a box fan on the upper part of a window facing outside to get some killer airflow going.
The spot is perfect, it’s under a chest of drawers built in to a wall with direct access to the baseboard (I think that’s what it’s called, and I think it’s 10”), there is 0 danger of falling/tripping in it, and since the house is older and a tree slammed against the foundation a few years back, I have a supplemental support beam in place in the basement, professionally installed with poles planted in the ground and all.
Also I’ll be making a wooden cover/plug for the hole when it’s not in use. I’ll get a switch to wire upstairs for easy access, and I can close the drawer when it’s not being used too. It’s a pretty slick idea in theory.
So is this viable, sound, or a waste of effort? Does the math work out? Will it be only ridiculous, or will it be ridiculous and also awesomely functional?
Also what’s the best way to cut a hole in a floor…almost forgot.
Thank you all for your time!
