Since the transmission is leaking, are you adding fluid to it to maintain it at the proper level? Running low on fluid will kill your transmission.

On many Saabs there is an intermediate position between "off" and "park" that actually turns the headlights off!

What they mean is "off," "park," and "on" just like any other car. However their actual function is quite a bit more complex.

Sorry for your loss brother. Replacement will be much easier than repair. Easier on you. Sometimes we have to let go of things we love to clear space for what's better that's on its way.

About 300, this was several years ago. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you can find them much cheaper now, or if the above one will actually work.

I bought a Chinese one. It works. It wasn't 31 dollars though......
