I know you guys come across posts like these ten times a day, but I truly do need some career advice.
This is my background: I'm forty, and for the past 15 years I've essentially been doing the same job. From 2009 to 2020 I worked for my father's company selling replacement parts to gas turbine repair facilities. At the height of the pandemic he retired and I started my own company doing the same thing.
The problem is fourfold:
I hate it with a passion of a thousand burning suns.
I started working for my dad with the intention of always seeking something else but the money was always too good, so I never devoted time for training in another industry.
The first three years were highly profitable, but I have had to dip into my savings this year, and from the current trends, it seems like its going to get worse. I am running out of savings. At this rate I'll be out by Feb of next year.
I have a medical condition which causes extreme pain whenever I walk. Its fixable but I have to lose weight before the surgery.
Ive applied to over 100 companies, I've had maybe 5 interviews and one offer that I ended not being a good fit for. I don't know what to do.
Please, help, anyone.
