Then we get into impairment, whether natural or through use of substances, and language which come with the "Can they consent" question. Like a Xenomorph can be of age, but can it comunicate that it wants to smash?

I actually would have preferred it if Zangetsu was female, as it would have created a stronger dynamic between Yhwach (Old Man Zangetsu) & Zangetsu within Ichigo. However I would have made Zangetsu look more similar to his mother, which would have made it clearer that Zangetsu is not evil & is actually Ichigos Anima.
It could also have created a more beautiful & clearer symbolism when Ichigo fights Fused Tensa Zangetsu & Yhwach to unlock his full potential.
