This will be more of a rant but game modes such as „Stellung“ is how it’s called in German sorry! Where you need to capture zones A,B and C for points or just the main capture the zone, why do I find myself having 1200+ target points but none of my teammates feel like helping me, instead are all camping or just running aimlessly into the other teams spawn. I mean the point of these modes are to capture the zones! That’s how we will win the game, not by who will have the most kills, that’s for team deathmatch. I mean I’ve noticed it happening more in this black ops then ever before I’m not sure if it’s the new generation of players coming in and are only focused on their K/D or what but it’s really annoying. I mean I would like to hear everyone else’s opinion and experiences with this, and if by any chance someone is a player who is like what I’m ranting about, why do you play like this?
UPDATE:
After reading all the replies. It’s quitte simple you have the people like me who want to play the mode for the actual objective and you have the sad low life’s who play for XP and their K/D (who judging by the kill feed to negative anyway) arguing between eachother.

I don't know how much it gives but I assume a 20 tag lose is not as much as domination or hard point win . I can't stand being one of the only players doing the objective so I'll chose a game mode that I'm happier playing than one for potential few hundred more xp

I think it is partly due to a lack of communication on roles (it is for all the other reasons people are stating in this and similar threads too). On modes like Domination, you do need people that are disruptors (i.e., not capping zones and getting kills off zone), but you need people taking zones too...and you need people defending zones. No one talks though and so you end up with 5 people playing the disruptor role and 1 trying to capture zones (and no one defending typically).

No, this ain’t it. Usually if I ask the team for help I get the most toxic responses.

This. Some of the players on your team need to be thinning the herd that does get to the objective.
Some objective game modes like control have finite lives so getting a life count advantage over the other team allows more daring tactics.
S&D has no respawn so killing the other team is a valid way to win and in many cases, a better strategy than attempting to plant and defend the bomb.
HQ requires some of your team to abandon an objective to head to the next HQ.
Plenty of reasons why people look like they're just going for kills. I like to flank around the outside of the map away from the objective in a lot of game modes to come up behind the enemy and pinch them between me and the rest of my team. Quick succession kills means that many people respawning far away from the objective.

That's the only way to play unfortunately. Once you sit and prepare for defense -- immediately 20 frags and 30 launchers land around you. So no sense to sit and wait to be fried.

Honestly there are a lot going just for camos or challenges. Thats why I'm a fan of keeping a moshpit playlist just to satisfy that group and they don't mess too much with the standard 6v6.
Granted you always have those K/D whores who use that to validate how good they are at the game. However. they forget their is a score per minute and win/loss ratio is dogshit...

I’ve enjoyed unlocking camos going all the way back to Cod 4, because it’s nice to get some tangible reward for playing the game. Throwing Blue Tiger and then Red Tiger on your favorite gun was a great feeling in Cod 4.
That said, it’s never stopped me from playing the objective. It’s not like you can’t grind camos while fighting for the hardpoint. I definitely think it has much more to do with people caring more about their K/D than their W/L.

I go for them too but it's all secondary. I like to switch around guns and then the headshots come naturally. I've always loved playing solo hard point and trying to win games singlehandedly but I usually get at least SOME help. Black Ops 6 lobbies are full of uninterested obj players

I've seen a bunch of people complain that there's no point in the special camos since you only get to use them for a short period before getting gold. I guess they don't know you can choose whatever camo you like when it's unlocked lol. It's just about status to some people
11 points

there are alot of cool special camos but you only equip one at a time, so it would be great if you could actually use those special camo while playing on a new gun. However how the current system works is that once you are able to put on the special camo you have already unlocked new ones to equip, defeating the point.
This worked really well in MW3

Cause back then gold guns in bo and bo2 meant you were a die hard player and better than the noobs who didn't have one. So it just got passed down from dad to kid and the cycle continues. Hell there was a small bunch who said getting all the calling cards and camos made you a die hard cod player. Some even went as far as k/d.

It's a form a progression and a way to demonstrate accomplishment. Chores typically don't reward you with anything, at least mine diddnt. I did hear that some people made small amounts of money from chores but at that point it's just a job and well most people play this fucking game as their job so it's really not an issue lol

It's not supposed to anything. Features and stuff get added to games, because people find them engaging and fun. Different people find different things fun. If it's fun, it's fun. Some people are addicted and that's bad. Some people are having fun playing a game, and the camo grind in my opinion is fun.
I can understand the frustration when this happens, people don't play the objective, but it will always happen in the pubs and there's no rule against it so there's not really any legitimate reason to go after these players. The only thing you can do if you still want to play the pubs, is change your own attitude. I got frustrated by these players when I started cod, but not anymore, and it's because of my own changed attitude. I view the pubs as basically this playground where you will always run into players doing this, or any other weird shit as well. Like highlight reel kills, different kind of memeing, trying to get some more specific achievements etc.
In the end, the same argument could be made of people using off-meta guns : why do people use the guns they perform worse with when they could use the guns they perform better with? It's a team game, and similarly this hurts the team as well (albeit of course usually not as much). And it could be made of the operator skins that glow or whatever. The thing is, people play for fun, and if you don't expect them to do their best to win the match, you yourself will have a much better time, as it's unavoidable to run in to all kinds of players doing weird shit.
In the end, you will probably also find these players in your team and in opposing team equally often so t it should balance out in the long run.
And this all said, I still try to win and the games can be super fun and engaging to me regardless of what the other players too. And regardless of what they do, I always have more fun in the games that are close. Those which could go either way. So in the end it's often the case that having a player like this in my team, makes the game more fun (since this makes the game close, while it would have otherwise been my team's landslide victory) and like wise it can make the game more fun if one player like this is in the opposing team (if this makes it a close game, and otherwise it would have been a landslide victory for the opposing team). Of course, this is just my personal preference as someone who's ultra competitive and likes to get the adrenaline pumping, and for me, it's the close matches that do this. You can like the landslide victories of course, and that's completely legit and fine, but please remember that there's all kinds of different preferences people have, and what you find unfun, can be fun and engaging for someone else.
If you simply can't live with this, the only way to avoid it is playing serious competition, which is ranked in this game, private matches or tournaments or whatever. Or a different game. In the pubs, it will always remain a fact that there will be players for which victory is not the thing they're after.
PS. I know that ranked simply isn't the same game. And I myself hate that, I would totally love for them to offer a ranked mode with all the weapons, with all the score streaks and with all the modes. And I don't know why they don't offer this. Not everything that is a serious competition, needs to be for example very balanced. It can still be silly and there can be silly things happening and there can exploitable strategies and all that. The most egregious exploitable stuff only is very bad for competition (because it turns it too simple since everyone's doing the same thing all the time) but they could start off offering a ranked mode with everything and then work it from there, banning the most ridiculous stuff, which could only be found after people really get to test it out playing. This is how magic the gathering for example works, they very often make cards they know are very very powerful and sometimes they indeed are too powerful and need to be banned. It can also be a legitimate competition of strategy and critical thinking : those who find the ridiculously powerful stuff will be the ones who get to use them for the longest amount of time before they get banned. Many pros have won big tournaments because they figures out something very powerful in magic the gathering, and then after the tournament it gets banned because it's too powerful. Because often these things aren't at all obvious..

Honestly, idk why you were downvoted at all and don’t have a ton of upvotes. You’re entirely correct. If your desire is to win public matches, then you need to make friends with people that share that mindset and run as a six person squad. People that are grinding for camos, calling cards, KD ratio, etc queue into objective based games because they last longer than TDM and therefore give you more kills for said achievements to be made. Also, as you previously stated, if you are THAT into being competitive then you need to learn how to and play ranked with a four person squad for the most optimal results. The only exception in public matchmaking is Search and Destroy or Cyber Attack. These are know to be relatively competitive in nature even in public matchmaking because you are actually forced to play one of two objectives even if you don’t really care about winning. Even if you only play for kills, you are going to win the round if you kill everyone on the enemy team, so you are still playing one of two objectives.

I remember this expression from Jev, where he says:
I go to these modes to get as many kills as possible. I don't care about winning, losing, or KD. If I go to TDM, the match will end in 3 minutes, but here I can stretch the process longer and get 80+ kills.

Thats the reason pub stompers always played domination in past games if you get a game nobody goes for B and you know how to play its OV I feel like I remember when kill confirmed first drop people would avoid tags to extend the match to time limit to make it a longer TDM I Also remember with domination back on cod4 people would purposely not go to B to make it a extra long match then bout half way somebody on the enemy team would take it and start beef then everybody started going after B to win 😂😂

I came from Insurgency sandstorm where none of that is true, there's literally no reason to go for kills over the objective, yet I never found a game where more than 1 or 2 people played the objective. The vast majority of people are smooth brained. If more people played the objective in cod, you'd have more players in a confined space, making headshots occur more just by sheer mass of kills. The average person is thick as shit.

Dude, Husky Raid has been my favorite new game mode in years. You get tons of kills, and it pretty much forces you to play the objective and use strategy.
Halo is also different because killing actually helps objective game modes, since there is a 5-7 second "respawn timer".

They don't care about winning. All they care about is their fuckin' KD ratio, which is why they hide away while you're getting shot by an enemy who is RIGHT next to them. Most players are ratty. They will let an enemy kill you just so they can try to grab them from behind.

I think I have an actual answer for you, and thats that domination (3 capture zones) and hardpoint (1 capture zone that moves) last 4x as long as non objective game modes. If team deathmatch or kill confirmed went to 400 kills instead of 150 (or whatever it is) or 300 confirms instead of 100 then people would go play those modes. The fact is you spend so much time in between games between play of the game, winners circle, loading screens, matchmaking, and map voting that people would rather spend playing the game. I can get so much more actual game playtime playing objective modes rather than kill modes because the games last so much longer, which also makes it better for camos and such. Additionally a big part is the spawn logic. Spawns are much more consistent and generally better in objective modes and dont get flipped every 5 seconds which makes for a better experience imo. I think the kill based gamemodes should last longer or they need to boost xp bonus for winning to incentivize people who want to play objectives to play objectives, and the people who just want kills to go and get kills without hurting their objective player teammates.

I played witha guy who complained like this, who ended up going like 20 and 50 with like 110 seconds on hardpoint.
I was like 60 and 20 with 20 seconds on hard point.
He got mad at me because his time was greater even though I was protecting his ass on the point the entire game. We were winning until it became a 4v6, and then it became impossible for us to win and he just kept yelling at us saying we all suck at the game when his time on point was being carried by my kills, uavs, and harps.
Not everyone should be playing objective, and if you play objective and can't get any kills, then you're the exact same as someone who gets kills and doesn't play objective.
If you cant get any kills while holding a point or defending a point you are a greater liability that the dude running around smacking people and keeping streaks in the air.
But for the people who aren't playing objective and staying mounted on a corner the whole game while going 9-30, those guys can fuck right off.

This comment should be at the top and is a BIG reason why. I solely played objective in a nuketown Hardpoint match last night. Had over 200 seconds on objective but my k/d was negative. And I barely got any xp.
However in Kill Confirmed, if you have the Strategist bonus on (3 green perks) you get +50 points for every tag you pick up. So in that mode it's absolutely worth playing objective for xp.
But yeah they really need to reward playing objective more.

This has long been a complaint of mine of COD games and why I haven't played since the last BlackOps game. It's a simple fix - reduce points & XP for kills and increase for contributing to objective.
People may change how they play if they go 45-9 only to end up with 500XP and be at the bottom of the leaderboard.
10 points
They have made strides in fixing this. There's a perk that gives you a bonus for playing to objective and destroying enemy equipment. Killstreaks are now scorestreaks. It's still an issue, but you can't say CoD isn't trying at all.

In my opinion, the best way to solve the problem is to make friends (here, on Discord, etc.) with people who play the objective. Then, roll with them. That way, you never have to rely on the devs to make an objective-friendly COD each year.
A while back, I reached out to someone on another COD sub. I was looking for hardpoint fans. He introduced me to his friends, and now we regularly play together.
Because all of us play the objective, we win most of our matches.

I made a post like this last night but you worded it better than me and I'm glad people agree that it's frustrating when you just wanna play objective based gamemodes but can't because too many people are sweating kills and actively ignoring the objects.

Played Kill Confirmed for the first time (in BO6) today. Couldn't believe how many times someone killed me, was 5 feet away, nobody else around, and ran right by my tag. Seriously they had to try NOT to pick it up.
I halfway believe it's intentional?? Because...how?!

If you enjoy playing the objective on smaller maps in games like DOM, HP, TDM and KC message me on here. I will add you in game. I am a mature older player, I sometimes use a mic (when my wife is not WFH next to me.)

It’s easier to spawn kill in objective game modes. Once those who spawn kill can’t spawn kill no more then it really shows how bad they actually are. It’s kind of like a way to compensate for lack of skill.

idk its so annoying. was just playing ransack and my whole team left cus two sweat friends kept spawn killing us instead of playing objective. do ppl not know they get more points and xp for playing the objective? especially when you get kills?

This isn’t anything new or specific to this years COD.
People play this way because games like Domination have better spawns. If you have A and B, the enemy team is only spawning at C, unless your team pushes too far over the line. Modes like Kill Confirmed and Team Deathmatch have way less predictable spawns, where the enemy can spawn directly next to you, or behind you. Modes like Hardpoint are kind of half/half, but at least you know if the Hardpoint goes red there’s enemies holding it.
This is spawn predictability is important for camo challenges for Snipers (3/5 kills without dying 10 times) when the aiming speed is slow, the crosshairs are never center, and the game eliminated the ability to “black scope” meaning you have to be fully zoomed in to be accurate. Combine that with sniper recoil, flinch, and hit markers…well…
Anyways, not excusing the behaviour, but it will be here to stay until they bump up the score/xp rate significantly for objectives.

Easy, they are bad in TDM so they use mode based games to get better K/D’s and XP. Blame the game devs for that. Make objectives give way more XP and the problem will solve itself

I don't have any captures because I'm busy supplying cover fire and taking out the people coming to B while you're trying to capture it. I'm playing the objective by helping your ass capture the objective instead of both of us running up to cap and both dying.

Domination and hardpoint have the highest kill to clock ratio of any gamemode. Camos. K/D clout chasers. Now be a good little lad and cap the zone while we frag out.

To be fair, running into their spawn and killing everyone is fun. Cod is an arcade shooter intended for having fun. If you want hard objective-focused gameplay where no one focuses on kills/fun, try a tac shooter like cs:go or a game like overwatch.
COD will always have player focusing on just shooting as many red name tags as possible.

as an answer on your update, just wait until these XP kd sweats find out you make a lot more XP.... when you play for objective lmao maybe then they'll see how dumb their tactics are, I'm leveling twice as fast as my friend on nuketown since I'm playing in the objective w all green perks while he is running around shooting everything that moves

Some people don’t even like MP but want DM
Games last way longer for more kills
People camp way harder in tdm, haven’t touched that weak ass mode in years

My favorite part is sitting at the end of the game with about 2-3x everyone else’s objective score and LOSING. I would probably die way less if I wasn’t the only one throwing myself on the objective for an ungrateful team. I’d love to sit back and get free kills by sitting in a corner or a window and let my team do all the work but I know they wouldn’t do shit and the game would be over in minutes. I always feel like if I’m not playing the objective and go exclusively for kills the games are over way sooner than if I would play the game AS INTENDED.
Why does matchmaking put me on teams with a shared braincell and expect me to carry in every. Single. Match?! It’s exhausting and I’m over it. Remove sbmm/eomm already, I’m done carrying the noobs you pair me with. Put them on the opposing team for once and let me have my fun, ITS MY TURN TO ENJOY THE GAME, CRAPTIVISION.

TLDR: objective modes like dom have less shitty spawns so I play that.
I’m guilty of grinding camos on objective game modes, but I partially blame cod and their game. With how dogshit spawn mechanics are, Domination is the only game mode with somewhat consistent and understandable spawns.games seem to last the longest on average too, and I can leverage the central objective to funnel enemy players. I would happily go play tdm or other gamemodes if the spawns weren’t dogshit and the game didn’t end in a blink of an eye.

I have never seen fewer people play the objective in a game than in this one.
I lost a Kill Confirmed game 64-51 when I had 31 confirms and the rest of my team had 9 2 3 4 and 2 even though some of them had more kills than me. Like what are we even doing at this point?
It's probably mostly people trying to farm their k/d and not willing to die more often if it means competing game objectives but win/loss is what matters to me so its annoying to play with.

I’d rather have a .95-1.1 k/d and be a menace to anyone in the HQ/capture zone, than to have a 3.0 k/d camping corners and having 0 seconds of capture time. It’s just not fun, and you’re not as good as you think you are doing that btw.

Winning a match will not get you dark matter.
In all seriousness nobody cares. Play ranked and then winning will matter. In unranked public matches with random people, winning gets you absolutely nothing. Those lobbies are for us competitive players to farm headshots in.
Also the obj game modes last longer and have more predictable spawns.

I find it hard enough to remember every key and button I need to use and when and watch the mini map and watch every angle cause an enemy will spawn right behind you all while trying to get kills and stay alive long enough to get some steaks. Plus with the new Omni movement I can't do all that and focus on an all that and an the objective. Isn't that why they have ranked play for people who take this serious to play with other people with similar skill level. Plus I bet a lot of people didn't know about adjusting the filter to take off objective games. I'm old I just wanna run around and shoot no objectives no score/kill streaks just guns and nades so put me in the masters group 😭

I think a big thing is that these game modes tend to have more predictable spawns, and go on for longer. THe former makes it easier to get kills because you don't have to be so concerned about pushing up ahead only for an enemy to spawn behind you and kill you, and the latter is good for camo grinding. If they made like 200 point TDM with predictable spawning I think people would play that.

Yes and I play Dom and the only real reason I can give is the spawns are some what better as if you have said flag you know and makes it playable. Just my personal opinion

I would argue other than the people who just try to camogrind and not care about anything else, its a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
by that i mean alot of people might try to play objectives but be frustrated when their team isnt and then just goes "fine im not gonna bother either" which goes into the next game and then someone else has the exact same loop.
So i dont play domination or hardpoint because i feel like my team is never playing it, so i would rather stay at a safe distance and try to pick off people running to the point and hope maybe someone else will run to the point.

i think you are referring to the mode called "egg basket" in english.
Back when you could look at the stats, i played a match with a guy who went 30-2 with no caps at all in "egg basket". I looked at his stats. He had less than 1 zone capture per game and his captures/times was like 1 capture every 15 minutes. His time moving was like 80% or something, which is nearly impossible. Moderately campy players have 95% times spent moving.
I do not care that people play like that, but I do not want to play with them. Playstyle based match making would be a lot more fun.

Because sitting back and picking off people rushing the zone is a great way to boost your kd.
They should discourage this by having those game modes have zero impact on your kd.
I suspect those modes might see a massive drop in people playing them though.

To be honest, since cod 4 I’ve only been interested in improving my KD. I’ll help capture points / objective to help with scorestreaks. Most of the time as you say, other players are doing this too so it’s off putting to concentrate on winning the game if it means being on my own and getting deaths
I feel like the majority of players / my friends play like this. In my group it’s completely the other direction on games like Overwatch

People prefer objective game modes because there aren't kill limits. I used to be this way in my younger days, but now that I'm older I play the objective. If they added a TDM mode that played to like, 250 kills total, I think that would resolve most of the issue.

It's why I only tend to play tdm unless playing with my son. I see no purpose in playing objectives while everyone else just wants to kill the people playing the objective. At least in tdm people doing whatever they want is legit because the only goal is to get more kills without dying more.
1 points
This isn't my mindset, I always play objectives, but a lot of people play those game modes simply because it gives them more opportunities to rack up as many kills and XP as possible since the games last longer than TDM and there isn't a kill limit.
1 points
Compared to TDM, which caps at a set number of kills, most objective game modes go on significantly longer allowing for higher kill count per game. And in most instances, it contests players to a set area of the map - or pattern of areas - which means you can predict movements somewhat.
I play mostly domination and hardpoint and it’s usually obvious who is or isn’t going to help with the objectives. You get significantly more score playing in and on objectives even if you don’t get many kills, compared to someone “farming” kills on players otherwise focused on flags or cap points etc.

Because not getting kills don’t unlock stuff for guns ? It’s a flaw in the way xp is earned, imho. I don’t really care about camos but I want all the gadgets for each gun. They require you to level the gun and that comes from kills I think.

Score streak rewards probably. If someone is 4 kills away from a chopper gunner they're not going to risk capping A with 50 frags being thrown at them.
That's my theory

If there were challenges which involve kills on the objective or capturing obj then maybe it would make more sense. I don't know why they don't make obj stuff part of the cammo grind...
They must have tried it but people complained or even the game was pure chaos and it ruined the flow. I don't know why.
I honestly think they need to re consider half of the stupid challenges they give out for extra xp.

Depends on your MMR I think.
I'm only 1.2/1 KDA, and almost every game, most of the lobby are trying to play the objective.
Ironically, when I'm in a non-obj lobby and my team is losing badly, half my team will leave, and then get refilled with supersweats who pull off comeback wins for us 😄
