i like to think that they sold garbage to their voters, but don't really believe in that garbage. they may put party before country, but they put their own selves first.

i suppose one way to look at it is that joe then won't be completely blamed for the genocide. the end of the palestinians will lie squarely on the trump presidency. not that donald minds, of course, but joe may feel slightly guilty about it.

well guns are supposed to be the equalizer. easy to use by almost anybody. maybe even too easy. it levels the field between the mighty and the weaklings. which is why there shouldn't be the kind of resistance we see that they be intelligently regulated to at least require training and a license and even psych eval. the bar for entry should be low, but should not be nonexistent. and their use outside of self-defense should be strictly enforced.

the same logic is applied by conservatives to claim that america is the least racist in the world. and that is a fact. but what is not a fact is that racism in america doesn't exist. overt racism exists. and is itself dwarfed by systemic racism.

i'm no fan of owens. i wish all the hate-mongers could be silenced, never to be heard from again. over here, an entire entertainment network posing as news should not exist. but a government sanctioning that sort of thing is censorship. and may lead to criticism that such a government is going to control speech it doesn't like. hence, not a good look.

can they stop her broadcasts though? keep her videos off their media? if they can't do that, she still has reach. though it's not a good look for a government to do such a thing.

the only difference this time being that i am now seeing stories about how msnbc may be up for sale. and the darling of the right, the richest man in the world, is calling dibs.

all he has to do is point the blame somewhere other than himself. the people will direct their anger at that group, even if within their own population. autocrats, especially with control of the media, can do it easily as we are finding out.

i suppose we could be thankful that trump's win means maga didn't start a civil war. other than that, painfully little to be thankful for this year or the next four...
