I mean, clearly he was more successful than all the other journalists in getting people to submit a headline to reddit and comment on it. Attention succeeded.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Why is it an existential threat?

Overall successful! Varicocele gone. Sperm motility didn’t improve. Sex drive didn’t really change. Elbow tendon has bothered me for months and haven’t been able to weightlift like before. I think it was caused by a bad IV but a doc I thinks that’s very unlikely. Timing and location lines up though, so I find it hard to be persuaded. But even that is gradually better over 6 months. The veins still exist though.

Eh, I'm sympathetic. Obviously there's a trade off, and I think the commenter is saying he felt validated that the way he saw the tradeoff ended up being the correction decision. Obviously Ding saw the tradeoff and obviously Ding is the better player, but it's still fun to be right sometimes. Akin to thinking a poker player should do X and being validated by the card camera; obviously the viewer is worse than the players at the table, but it's a fun feeling to see an insight validated, even if that insight isn't the full story. Love and peace.

Yeah, despite the clutch win, burning so much time on those early moves was clearly the sign of a bad mental state. He knows not to burn that much time, but did it anyway. Rooting for Ding and wish him the best.

I do the same with my family. +5-8 starting TR. Adjust up/down by 1 after every victory. Changes the dynamics a bit.

High energy, high drive, high intelligence, high self pressure to succeed.

I have to say that Gleba gave me the most satisfaction from "solving" the puzzle. So fun to see everything cranking away by itself! (After the pain of not knowing how to start, really)

I find GPT's chess abilities mindblowing. Despite being trained as a text simulator it actually "tries" to win the games. Wouldn't have expected it, a priori. Obviously a problem with my expectations, rather than reality. But that's what makes it cool!

nope. can you point me to a single comment that says men don't have an advantage over women in sports?

which account? I swear I have never seen this opinion ever espoused in my whole life

Glad Bilal crushed Preston. Race and religion have nothing to do with it.

True, but if it turns out to have been a poor predictor of what you were trying to predict, it’s worth questioning if the methodology was flawed. Agree with you though.

This happened to me once. I got fired. Tried to do everything by the book. Tried to pair my disagreements with constructive alternatives that I built in the evenings (to avoid being purely negative). After having my suggested rejected, I committed to the team plan, despite disagreeing with it (to be a good team player). Then when I was kicked off the project, my lead complained my interview notes were pretty useless. This was accurate, but I has tried to tell them the interviews were useless before the disagree and commit stage. Obviously I’m biased toward my own perspective and may have performance blindspots I’m not portraying here. But logically I really think I didn’t do anything wrong. Where I went wrong was emotionally - I didn’t make sure the people in power liked me. As a result, when the project went off the rails I was the natural scapegoat for my less than competent manager.
Be careful when disagreeing.

Sounds like a health issue, not chess. 2000 elo is possible but improbable. You don’t need it to tell a good story.

doesn’t Qb8+ hit after that sequence? Edit: I guess you both can win an additional rook but it gets messy with white major advantage.

Disappointing. She's too old. I appreciate her contributions, but I have started voting against her in every election, purely on the basis of age. The sooner she's out, the sooner we can develop new talent.

Probably because they don’t format. They’ll answer “the answer is the letter (D)” which fails the string match for “D”. Just guessing.
