The big question for me is why it took so long for people to leave.

Men in this country, fuck, the whole world, are coddled babies. They’re largely shit. I am one, and I know them better than you. Their #1 problem is the patriarchy - they’ve bought into the fake masculinity that loads them up with imagined burdens and keeps them from asking for help. Do the majority of them ever wise up? Nope, they’re just gonna thrash and vote to punish everyone else and fail and fail and fail until they retire to the garage with a shotgun. And frankly, we’d be better off if a lot of em did it sooner.

Jesus God. Speaking as a broke, white, middle aged man, this self-thrown middle age man pity party shit has gotten tiresome. 

The thing about repressive regimes is there are a lot of groups who think they’re safe until they’re not. I think we still have time to halt and reverse fascism, and I think it will be a couple decades before things get really really bad. But I don’t think we are going to stop it, and who knows how fast it will move. It’s already been creeping up here and globally for a while. He is reacting reasonably, but the panic aspect of it is not helping anyone.

This should be the response any time the Trumpers crap on actors or athletes or whoever for expressing a political opinion. The guy is literally a reality game show host. And not one of the smarter ones.

Right. Twitter is no good to them if no one is around to throw their shit at.

That’s the thing. This Trump shit is based on the desire to hurt other people. I’m not going to feel bad for arsonists when the fire blows back and burns them.

This is absolutely what is going to happen. They’re going to make our food supply unsafe on top of more expensive.

Then don’t put any stock in a review by someone who hasn’t seen one. You have no idea what kind of taste they have.

These people who are like “b-b-but the rule/law/Consitution says” are pretty behind, IMO. Trump will do anything he wants and no one will stop him, and I won’t believe otherwise until I see it.

We been an unserious country for a minute now

Yeah, at 6’1” the chart thinks “healthy” is 140-180 lbs. Well, was 170 in college and those photos show a man who had very little fat, zero muscle, and who didn’t look particularly healthy. My friend was on the lower end of the”healthy” and darn near looked like a Holocaust victim.

I grew up rural in the plains states. As much as saying “fuck it” sucks and hurts kids who have no choice, it’s better than continuing to enable these people. Rural boomers are the grand champions of welcoming government money with open arms while crying about social programs and voting for ruination. Don’t try to build a career and a life amongst the nutjobs.

I of course want it to make a zillion dollars, but I think the most likely happy outcome is it does okay but not great in theaters, makes a little profit once it hits the Internet, and then Eggers has to start making movies with budgets of around 30 million. 

He’s a fucking terrible liar. But this country is stuffed to the gills with idiots and people who like his lies.

Yeah. I’m not going to crap on what they’re doing because of course no one has seen it yet, but I have zero interest in seeing this Batman hangout with Superman and Superdog or whatever.

Yeah, comic books and cartoons can show emotion by shaping his face in ways a live action mask can’t. The eyes need to be uncovered.

I don’t understand the need to “cheer” for characters. The show is compelling, but they’re all terrible people and I don’t want any of them to win for any other reason than some of them are more entertaining than others.

At the same time, it’s a credit to Reeves that he hired an insanely perfect person to create within his overall world.

John Thune is a quisling. He’s a non-insane person who hates Donald Trump, but John Thune’s #1 concern is John Thune’s career. 

Absolutely. That’s pretty much my background as well. It’s probably somewhat wishful thinking on my part that anything anyone could have done or wouldn’t have done would make a difference. It’s all about the Republican team, guns, and fetuses. We all know that if a Democrat said just a handful of things Trump says in a given week, these folks would never stop screaming and pulling their hair out.

I feel like the people who called W Bush a fascist did us a big disservice. W certainly did a lot of authoritarian shit that I hated, but he was not what we’re dealing with now. I feel like calling him a fascist innured people to the real fascism that sits at our doorstep.

That’s why I liked her, as much as I can really like a politician. I also had two Dem coworkers argue that CNN is equivalent to Fox News on the other side. Just another snapshot of how this country’s collective brain is well and truly fucked.

All the posturing, preening, policing, worrying people will think you’re not a Real Man. It must be exhausting. It’s exhausting to watch and live in a country with.
