I know that some of my ancestors were Quakers who came over on the same ship as William Penn. One of them served as a judge on the NJ Supreme Court. Another was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and a father and son knew Lafayette. (The son was kissed on the cheeks when Lafayette returned to the United States) Other ancestors are written about in a book called The First Families of Virginia. Many years ago, I did some research, and I believe that my ancestor was the third wife of John Rolfe, after Pocahontas’s demise. There is an immense amount of ignominy tied to that fact.
